MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,038 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 614 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 777F, then departed from runway 29 at FAEL Ben Schoeman Airport. The takeoff distance was 880 meters, which accounted for 46% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 161 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots at 190 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The aircraft successfully took off and began its enroute climb, which started overhead FAEL Ben Schoeman Airport East London (Eastern Cape, South Africa). The climb phase involved an increase in altitude from 1,515 feet above sea level to 36,459 feet above sea level, a rise of 34,944 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 140 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 3 miles northeast of FAGW Magwa Airport Magwa (Eastern Cape, South Africa). This phase lasted for 120 minutes and covered a distance of 1,477 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 21 miles southwest of FMEP Pierrefonds Airport Saint-Pierre (Reunion, Réunion). The descent phase involved a decrease in altitude from 36,934 feet above sea level to 3,926 feet above sea level, a drop of 33,008 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 142 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles south of Tamarin (Black River District, Mauritius). This phase lasted for only 2 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 2 miles southwest of Curepipe (Plaines Wilhems District, Mauritius). The descent phase involved a decrease in altitude from 3,888 feet above sea level to 1,676 feet above sea level, a drop of 2,212 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 14 at FIMP Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport was made from the northwest, heading 117.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,513 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 198 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 132 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -339 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots at 89 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The total landing distance was 1,326 meters, which accounted for 44% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,780 nautical miles, taking 164 minutes, and the aircraft used 28,155 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 777F aircraft successfully landed at FIMP Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, achieving a high score of 96.3%. The final approach to runway 14 was conducted from the north-west, with a heading of 117.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,513 feet above ground level.
The aircraft's performance during the landing was impressive, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 141 knots. The touchdown point was 198 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 132 knots was also within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -339 feet per minute was firm, suggesting a stable and controlled landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 28°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 89°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. These conditions contributed to a relatively straightforward landing.
The total landing distance of 1,326 meters was 44% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well under control during the landing and rollout phases.
Overall, the Boeing 777F aircraft demonstrated excellent landing performance at FIMP Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, with a high score and minimal deviations from the desired touchdown point and speed. The favorable weather conditions and the aircraft's stable and controlled descent contributed to a successful landing.
