MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,931 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 328 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EFTU Turku Airport. This process took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 26, and the takeoff distance was 1,397 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 155 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at 290 degrees. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the headwind was 11 knots. The enroute climb began 1 mile south of Rusko, Finland, and the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,185 feet above sea level to 32,842 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,658 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 86 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 32 miles northeast of Öregrund, Sweden, and lasted for 45 minutes, covering a distance of 296 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 5 miles south of Lalm, Norway, and the aircraft descended from 32,727 feet above sea level to 1,327 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,400 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 97 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24 at ENAL Ålesund Airport, Vigra, was made from the northeast, heading 245.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,278 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 24, which had a length of 1,931 meters. The threshold height was well above the target, and the threshold speed was good at 130 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 329 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 124 knots, and the touchdown rate was hard at -429 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.3 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 7.8 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 6 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots at 198 degrees, with a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 998 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 487 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 96 minutes, using 3,553 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at ENAL Ålesund Airport, Vigra, with a score of 90.1%. The final approach to runway 24 was initiated from the north east, heading 245.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with a touchdown distance of 329 meters, which was considered good. However, the touchdown speed of 124 knots was slightly faster than the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have needed to apply more braking force upon touchdown. The touchdown rate of -429 feet per minute (fpm) was also considered hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a significant deceleration upon landing.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.3 meters from the centerline, which may have required the pilot to make adjustments during the rollout phase. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 6°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 198°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was also 4 knots, resulting in a relatively calm wind environment.
The total landing distance of 998 meters was 52% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 7.8 meters from the centerline, which may have required additional attention from the pilot during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with a score of 90.1%. However, there were some areas for improvement, including the touchdown speed and rate, as well as the runway touchdown and rollout alignments.
