Flight Score
Improve the touchdown
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,629 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,629 m of the 2,785 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 538 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A321-ceo taxied from the parking area to runway 26L at EDDM Munich Airport in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 26L, the aircraft used 1,510 m of runway, representing 38 % of the available length, and lifted off at 152 kt. Ambient conditions were 16 °C with a wind of 5 kt from 280°, including a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 5 kt head-wind component.
The climb commenced over Hallbergmoos, Bavaria, with the aircraft ascending from 2,514 ft asl to 34,686 ft asl, a gain of 32,173 ft achieved in 20 minutes while covering 124 nm.
Level cruise began over Drahonice, Jihocesky kraj, Czech Republic, and was maintained for 42 minutes, during which 258 nm were flown.
Descent started 1 mile south-west of Gorzyce, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland, with the aircraft descending from 35,017 ft asl to 1,874 ft asl, a loss of 33,143 ft in 24 minutes and a distance of 106 nm.
The final approach to runway 29 at EPGD Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport involved a descent from 1,450 ft agl to 87 ft agl in 108 seconds, and the aircraft scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 29 was executed with a threshold speed of 143 kt; touchdown occurred 116 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 134 kt and a firm rate of minus 331 fpm. The touchdown point was offset by 3.8 m from the centreline. Local weather reported 12 °C, wind 10 kt from 280° with a 2 kt cross-wind and a 9 kt head-wind. The total landing distance measured 1,542 m, equivalent to 55 % of the runway length.
Runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, confirming precise directional control after touchdown.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 497 nm, required 95 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 4,754 kg of fuel.
The approach to runway 29 at EPGD Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits. The aircraft descended from 1,450 ft AGL to 87 ft AGL in 108 seconds, maintaining the prescribed parameters throughout the final approach. Local weather was 12 °C with wind 10 kt from 280°, including a 2 kt cross-wind component and a 9 kt head-wind component.
Threshold height was reported as good and the threshold speed was good at 143 kt, indicating proper configuration and speed management prior to flare.
Touchdown occurred 116 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a good touchdown speed of 134 kt. The touchdown rate was firm at minus 331 fpm and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.8 m from the centreline.
Rollout used a total landing distance of 1,542 m, representing 55 % of the 2,785 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good.
Coaching should focus on refining the flare timing to achieve a touchdown point closer to the intended zone and on tightening lateral control to reduce the 3.8 m centreline offset, thereby converting the already high 95.7 % score into an even tighter performance.
