MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Keep the approach speed on target
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,861 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 624 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway at KBKE Baker City Municipal Airport, which took 17 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 08, with a takeoff distance of 519 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 89 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started from 2 miles east of KBKE Baker City Municipal Airport, rising from 4,429 feet above sea level to 5,468 feet, an increase of 1,039 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise began 7 miles east of Baker City and lasted for 10 minutes, covering 31 nautical miles.
The aircraft then climbed again, this time from 7 miles east of OR70 Pine Valley Airport Halfway, rising from 5,829 feet to 7,018 feet, an increase of 1,189 feet in 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 5 miles south of OR12 Oxbow Airport Homestead and lasted for 8 minutes, covering 19 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued to climb, rising from 12 miles south of 25U Memaloose Airport Imnaha from 7,022 feet to 11,483 feet, an increase of 4,461 feet in 5 minutes, covering 11 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 6 miles south of O68 Sluice Creek Imnaha and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent from 2 miles east of O68 Sluice Creek Imnaha, descending from 11,357 feet to 9,636 feet, a decrease of 1,721 feet in 3 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then climbed again, rising from 7 miles south of O68 Sluice Creek Imnaha from 9,611 feet to 12,809 feet, an increase of 3,197 feet in 3 minutes, covering 14 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 14 miles north of 1U4 New Meadows Airport New Meadows and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 19 miles north of 1U4 New Meadows Airport New Meadows, descending from 12,787 feet to 6,267 feet, a decrease of 6,520 feet in 9 minutes, covering 20 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 16 at KMYL McCall Municipal Airport was from the north, with a heading of 179.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,232 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 16 was at a speed of 99 knots, which was excessively high, and the touchdown point was 197 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 88 knots, which was too fast, but the touchdown rate was fair at -205 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind of 4 knots at 250 degrees, with a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 883 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 131 nautical miles, taking 50 minutes, and the aircraft used 182 kilograms of fuel.
The Vision Jet has successfully landed at KMYL McCall Municipal Airport, but with some areas for improvement. The aircraft began its final approach to runway 16 from the north, heading 179.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,232 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was conducted on a runway with a length of 1,861 meters.
Upon reaching the threshold, the aircraft's height was above the target, indicating a slightly higher than desired approach. However, the threshold speed was excessively high at 99 knots, which may have contributed to the subsequent issues with the landing. The touchdown point was 197 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, suggesting that the aircraft may have been slightly too far back on the approach.
The touchdown speed of 88 knots was also too fast, which could have resulted in a longer rollout distance. The touchdown rate of -205 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, indicating a relatively smooth descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, which is a positive aspect of the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from 250°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions were generally favorable for the landing.
The total landing distance of 883 meters was 47% of the runway length, which is a relatively long rollout distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the rollout phase. Overall, while the Vision Jet's landing at KMYL McCall Municipal Airport was not perfect, it was still a successful landing with some areas for improvement.
