Track the centreline
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out. These checks are the approach's score.
At the 500 ft gate: centreline 1.1° off, against a 1° limit and wings 16° of bank, against a 10° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,342 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 529 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The TBM 850 taxied to runway 27L at LFPG Charles de Gaulle International Airport and commenced the take-off roll; the aircraft used 544 m, representing 15 % of the runway, and lifted off at 88 kt. Local conditions were 16 °C with a 2 kt wind from 270°, a 0 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
Climb began over Roissy-en-France, with the airplane ascending from 1,342 ft asl to 3,987 ft asl, a gain of 2,645 ft achieved in 2 minutes while covering 6 nm.
Cruise was established over Sevran, lasting 11 minutes and encompassing 44 nm of level flight.
Descent started above Gentilly, during which the aircraft descended from 3,739 ft asl to 691 ft asl, a loss of 3,048 ft in 3 minutes and over a distance of 9 nm.
Final approach to runway 06 at LFPO Paris-Orly Airport reduced altitude from 712 ft agl to 57 ft agl in 58 seconds, and the flight was recorded as having met the stabilisation gate criteria.
Landing on runway 06, whose length is 3,342 m, occurred with a threshold speed of 92 kt; touchdown was 90 m beyond the touchdown zone at 78 kt and a vertical speed of minus 62 fpm. Weather at the time was 15 °C with a 2 kt wind from 270°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt tail-wind component. The total landing distance measured 1,156 m, equivalent to 35 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was reported as perfect, and the aircraft remained on the centreline during the deceleration phase.
Taxi-in to the parking area from the runway required 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 63 nm, lasted 22 minutes and consumed 60 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 06 at LFPO Paris-Orly was conducted in a temperature of 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a crosswind component of 1 kt and a tailwind component of 2 kt. The aircraft descended from 712 ft agl to 57 ft agl over 58 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft established a good threshold speed of 92 kt and maintained the correct height for a smooth flare.
Touchdown occurred 90 m beyond the touchdown zone with a touchdown speed of 78 kt, a touchdown rate of minus 62 fpm, and perfect runway touchdown alignment.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,156 m, representing 35 % of the 3,342 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was perfect.
For future landings, aim to achieve touchdown nearer the 300 m (1,000 ft) aim point to reduce the landing distance, and fine-tune the flare timing to keep the touchdown point within the designated zone.
