Speed on the slow side
Between four hundred and a thousand feet you're heavy, close to the ground and still carrying flap, and speed is the margin holding all three apart. Slow here doesn't feel like anything — the aeroplane climbs, the nose is up, nothing complains — right up until a turn, a gust or a bank tightens the wing's job and the margin is already gone. The fix is rarely "fly faster", it's lowering the nose a degree and letting the speed build before the next thing you do. Pitch buys altitude, speed buys options, and at this height options are the scarcer of the two.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out. These checks are the approach's score.
At the 500 ft gate: centreline 1.4° off, against a 1° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,024 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,024 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 185 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Bad Waldsee-Reute Airport (EDJJ), a Kodiak 100 aircraft initiated its departure roll on runway 15. The aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 68 kt, achieving liftoff in a distance of 398 m, which accounted for 49% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 20 °C and a gentle wind of 6 kt from 323°, resulting in a negligible crosswind component.
As the aircraft transitioned to the enroute climb phase, it began ascending from an initial altitude of 2,405 ft above sea level to 3,027 ft, a gain of 622 ft in just 1 minute. This climb phase was completed while covering a distance of 2 nm. Subsequently, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, maintaining a steady altitude for 4 minutes while covering a distance of 11 nm. The aircraft then commenced its final approach to runway 04 at Biberach an der Riß Airfield (EDMB), aligning itself with the runway from a heading of 43.0° at a distance of 2 nm and an altitude of 741 ft above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on runway 04 at EDMB in a distance of 183 m, with a touchdown speed of 56 kt and a touchdown rate of -66 fpm, both of which were considered excellent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 3.6 m. The total landing distance was 512 m, accounting for 66% of the available runway length. Following a perfect runway rollout alignment, the aircraft completed the flight, covering a total distance of 16 nm and consuming 20 kg of fuel in the process, with a total flight time of 9 minutes.
The final approach to runway 04 at EDMB Biberach an der Riß Airfield from the south west was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 43.0° at 2 nm and 741 ft above ground level. The approach quality was excellent, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed that was slightly below the target at 63 kt. This demonstrated a high degree of control and situational awareness on the part of the pilot.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, the touchdown distance was good at 183 m, and the touchdown speed was also within acceptable limits at 56 kt. The touchdown rate was particularly impressive, with an excellent rate of -66 fpm. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.6 m from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach path. Despite this, the local weather conditions, with a temperature of 20 °C and a gentle wind of 6 kt at 323°, were favourable for the landing.
The total landing distance of 512 m was 66% of the runway length, which is a respectable figure. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft maintaining a straight course down the centre of the runway. Overall, the landing was a success, with a score of 98.5% reflecting the high level of skill and precision displayed by the pilot.
