Improve the pattern base leg turn
Bank angle in the pattern is conventionally kept to 20 to 30 degrees, and the base-to-final turn is where that convention earns its keep. Stall speed rises with bank because the wing must produce more lift in a turn. Roughly 7 per cent higher at 30 degrees, about 19 per cent at 45, and around 40 per cent at 60. At 65 kt on base you don't have much margin to spend steepening a turn to salvage an overshoot.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
At the 300 ft gate: no landing flap set, off the centreline, wings not level and speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,230 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,230 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 33 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Bonanza G36 aircraft departed from runway 18 at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield, covering a takeoff distance of 484 meters, which accounted for 39% of the runway. The liftoff speed was achieved at 86 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots blowing from 214 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
After takeoff, the aircraft entered a left-hand pattern, which involved a 2-nautical-mile turn in 41 seconds. The subsequent crosswind turn was completed in 1 nautical mile in 27 seconds. The downwind turn covered a distance of 4 nautical miles, with an angle to the runway of 43.3 degrees. The downwind leg itself took 89 seconds to complete, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The base leg turn was a 3-nautical-mile turn with an angle to the runway of 71.8 degrees. The base leg was completed in 51 seconds, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The final turn was a 1-nautical-mile turn in 38 seconds. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 18 from the north, at an altitude of 798 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 18 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 30 meters, which was within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown speed was slightly higher than the target speed, at 83 knots. The touchdown rate was smooth, at -134 feet per minute. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.4 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots blowing from 213 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 372 meters, which accounted for 30% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The total flight distance was 15 nautical miles, which was completed in 7 minutes, and the aircraft used 5 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Bonanza G36 aircraft successfully landed at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield, achieving a score of 95.2%. The final approach was conducted from the north, heading 180.0° at 0 nm and 798 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 18, which has a length of 1,230 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 85 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been able to make some adjustments to the approach to achieve a more optimal speed. The touchdown distance was good at 30 meters, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
However, the touchdown speed of 83 knots was reported as fast, which may indicate that the pilot could have made some adjustments to the approach to achieve a more optimal speed. The touchdown rate was smooth at -134 feet per minute (fpm), which suggests that the pilot was able to control the aircraft's descent effectively.
One area for improvement was the runway touchdown position, which was misaligned by 9.4 meters from the centerline. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or a miscalculation of the aircraft's position. Despite this, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were reported as follows: temperature 9°C, wind 6 knots at 213°, crosswind 3 knots, and headwind 5 knots. These conditions may have affected the approach and landing, but the pilot was able to adapt and achieve a successful landing. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and decision-making skills.
