MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,190 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 400 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, then departed from runway 15L at KIAH George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,136 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 164 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 140 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed out of KIAH, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile south of the airport. The climb took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 155 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,101 feet above sea level to 37,267 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,165 feet. The enroute climb was followed by a level cruise, which started 4 miles northwest of LA51 Stuart Airstrip Coushatta in Louisiana. This cruise phase lasted for 23 minutes and covered a distance of 754 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 14 miles west of 97VA Singleton Airport Warm Springs in Virginia. The descent took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 141 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 37,288 feet above sea level to 2,990 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,298 feet. Following the descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile northwest of Bryans Road in Maryland. This cruise phase lasted for 4 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 01 at KDCA Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 356.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 01, which had a length of 2,190 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 350 degrees.
The touchdown speed was a little fast at 132 knots, but the touchdown distance was good at 398 meters. The touchdown rate was firm at -350 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The total landing distance was 1,149 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 1,068 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 64 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 5,564 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (KDCA) on runway 01, achieving a high score of 98.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 356.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing was executed with precision, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 136 knots, which is within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 398 meters was also satisfactory, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach and touchdown. However, the touchdown speed of 132 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a firmer touchdown rate of -350 feet per minute (fpm).
Despite the slightly fast touchdown speed, the aircraft was able to maintain perfect runway touchdown alignment, which is a critical aspect of a safe and successful landing. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 5°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 350°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 6 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach.
The total landing distance of 1,149 meters was 52% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled descent throughout the landing. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and expertise in executing a smooth and controlled landing.
Overall, the Airbus A320's landing at KDCA was a success, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating excellent handling and control throughout the approach and touchdown.
