Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,584 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,584 m of the 2,378 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 495 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an AT802 Firefighting plane, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LEVX Vigo Airport in Vigo, Spain. This short taxiing period took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 19, taking off with a takeoff distance of 742 meters, which accounted for 31% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was 94 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 16°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 36°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the tailwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb started overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 922 feet above sea level to 3,524 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,602 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise, starting 3 miles southwest of Porrino, Galicia, Spain. This cruise phase lasted 3 minutes and covered 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 1 mile west of LPVA Aerodromo do Cerval Valenca in Portugal. The descent from 3,029 feet above sea level to 1,623 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,406 feet in 3 minutes, covered a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The aircraft then climbed again, starting 4 miles east of O Rosal, Galicia, Spain. This climb phase took the aircraft from 1,637 feet above sea level to 3,949 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,312 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another descent, starting 2 miles northeast of Tomino, Galicia, Spain. The descent from 3,950 feet above sea level to 2,386 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,564 feet in 5 minutes, covered a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting overhead Porrino, Galicia, Spain. This cruise phase lasted 4 minutes and covered 6 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 19 at LEVX Vigo Airport was made from the north, heading 193.0° at 1 nautical mile and 415 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 19 was successful, with the touchdown point being 57 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 64 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was perfect at -26 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.0 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 15°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 37°, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,481 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.7 meters from the centerline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking 2 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 44 nautical miles, taking 28 minutes, and the aircraft used 71 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The AT802 Firefighting aircraft successfully landed at LEVX Vigo Airport, achieving a score of 94.5%. The final approach to runway 19 was initiated from the north, with the aircraft heading 193.0° at 1 nautical mile and 415 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating that the pilot maintained a safe distance from the runway threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 76 knots. This suggests that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and was able to maintain a safe speed during the landing. The touchdown point was located 57 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 64 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -26 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
However, there were some minor issues with the landing. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.0 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the approach. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.7 meters from the centerline, which may have been caused by the aircraft's wheels not being perfectly aligned with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 2 knots from 37°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, while the tailwind component was 2 knots. The total landing distance of 1,481 meters was 62% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and judgment during the approach and touchdown. However, there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing, which may be addressed through further training and practice.
