Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,131 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 541 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from St. Louis Lambert International Airport (KSTL), the CRJ900 began its journey on runway 30L, where it accelerated to liftoff speed of 154 kt after a takeoff distance of 1,873 meters, which covered 59% of the available runway. The aircraft encountered a crosswind of 18 kt and a headwind of 10 kt, with a temperature of 22 °C and a wind direction of 239°.
As the aircraft climbed to its enroute cruise altitude, it passed overhead Bridgeton, Missouri, and continued to ascend to 37,023 ft asl, a gain of 35,435 ft in 17 minutes, covering 205 nm. The enroute level cruise phase started 1 mile north of IN58 Sealscott Airport Monroeville, Indiana, and lasted 14 minutes, during which the aircraft covered 410 nm. The descent phase began 9 miles south of South Renovo, Pennsylvania, and took 24 minutes to descend from 36,993 ft asl to 197 ft asl, a decrease of 36,795 ft, covering 195 nm.
The CRJ900 then began its final approach to runway 31 at LaGuardia Airport (KLGA), from the southeast, heading 302.0° at 0 nm and 178 ft agl. The aircraft landed on the runway, with a touchdown point 124 meters beyond the touchdown zone, at a speed of 131 kt. The touchdown rate was fair at -257 fpm, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.6 meters from the centreline. The total landing distance was 1,343 meters, covering 63% of the available runway. After a short taxiing period of 3 minutes, the aircraft arrived at the parking area, having covered a total distance of 817 nm and consumed 3,167 kg of fuel during the 65-minute flight.
The CRJ900 touched down on runway 31 at KLGA LaGuardia Airport with a good threshold height, allowing for a smooth transition from the approach to the touchdown. The threshold speed of 143 kt was well within the acceptable range, indicating a well-executed approach. The aircraft landed at a speed of 131 kt, which was also within the desired parameters. However, the touchdown rate of -257 fpm was slightly higher than ideal, resulting in a fair assessment of this aspect of the landing.
The touchdown point was located 124 m beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.6 m from the centreline, which may have contributed to the slightly longer landing distance. The total landing distance of 1,343 m was 63% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 16 °C and a gentle headwind of 5 kt, were favorable for the landing.
The rollout phase was also notable, with the aircraft slightly misaligned from the centreline by 8.2 m. Despite this, the overall landing performance was impressive, with a score of 95.5%. The approach quality was good, and the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed and position was evident throughout the landing. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown rate and centreline alignment during the rollout phase.
