Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,644 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,644 m of the 2,521 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 528 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 09 at EKBI Billund Airport in Denmark. The takeoff distance was 1,095 meters, which is 39% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 150 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 5°C, with a wind speed of 20 knots at a direction of 90°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 19 knots. The aircraft climbed to a height of 35,211 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,941 feet from the initial altitude of 1,270 feet. This climb took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 103 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Poyenberg in Germany. This phase lasted for 67 minutes and covered a distance of 437 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 5 miles south-east of Curon Venosta in Italy. The descent took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 88 nautical miles, with a decrease in altitude of 28,051 feet from 33,836 feet to 5,785 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started overhead Orzinuovi in Italy and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting overhead Castelcovati in Italy. The descent took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 11 nautical miles, with a decrease in altitude of 3,725 feet from 5,784 feet to 2,059 feet.
The final approach to runway 28 at LIME Milan Bergamo Airport / Antonio Locatelli Air Base was made from the east, with a heading of 285.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,260 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 28, which has a length of 2,521 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 143 knots.
The touchdown point was 119 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 138 knots, which is a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -214 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 9°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at a direction of 300°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,570 meters, which is 62% of the runway length. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 652 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 123 minutes. The aircraft used 4,501 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at LIME Milan Bergamo Airport / Antonio Locatelli Air Base, with a final approach score of 98.8%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the east, heading 285.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,260 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 28, which has a length of 2,521 meters. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 142 kt, coming in at 143 kt.
The touchdown point was 119 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 138 kt was a little fast, but not excessively so. The touchdown rate of -214 feet per minute was considered fair, indicating a relatively smooth landing. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, showing that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway as it touched down.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 5 kt from 300°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 kt and a headwind of 5 kt, which did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing.
The total landing distance was 1,570 meters, which is 62% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop in a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, showing that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway as it came to a stop.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with a high score of 98.8%. The aircraft performed well in the challenging weather conditions, and the pilots were able to bring the aircraft in for a smooth and controlled landing.
