Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,100 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 379 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 17 at the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (KMSP). The takeoff distance was 1,593 meters, which accounted for 65% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and winds of 8 knots at 120 degrees. The crosswind was 6 knots, and the headwind was 5 knots. After departing from KMSP, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south of the airport and climbing from an altitude of 1,827 feet above sea level to 37,924 feet above sea level. This climb, which covered a distance of 115 nautical miles, took 15 minutes and resulted in an increase of 36,097 feet in altitude.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles west of Miltona, Minnesota. This phase lasted for 52 minutes and covered a distance of 709 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 16 miles east of Wainwright, Alberta, Canada. The descent, which covered a distance of 115 nautical miles, took 16 minutes and resulted in a decrease of 33,703 feet in altitude, from 37,252 feet above sea level to 3,549 feet above sea level.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final approach to runway 30 at the Edmonton International Airport (CYEG). The approach was made from the southeast, heading 315.0 degrees, at an altitude of 1,199 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 30, which had a length of 3,100 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 151 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 381 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 145 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -276 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius and winds of 8 knots at 280 degrees, with a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 7 knots.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 948 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 93 minutes. The aircraft used 5,136 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at Edmonton International Airport (CYEG) on runway 30, achieving a score of 97.8%. The final approach was initiated from the southeast, heading 315.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,199 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a threshold speed that was slightly above the target, reaching 151 knots. The touchdown distance was good, measuring 381 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 145 knots. The touchdown rate was fair, with a descent rate of -276 feet per minute (fpm). However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.2 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots from 280°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The total landing distance was 1,247 meters, which accounted for 40% of the runway length.
Despite the slightly misaligned touchdown position, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled deceleration of the aircraft after touchdown. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and stability throughout the approach and touchdown phases.
