Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,592 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,592 m of the 2,744 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 562 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 06 at Cologne Bonn Airport, EDDK. The Boeing 737-800 took off with a takeoff distance of 1,199 meters, which was 49% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 153 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 80 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile south of Roesrath, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. The climb was from an altitude of 1,369 feet above sea level to 23,861 feet above sea level, an increase of 22,492 feet in just 10 minutes. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 34 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 1 mile northwest of Eschweiler, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, and lasted for 15 minutes, covering a distance of 90 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent overhead Axel, Provincie Zeeland, The Netherlands. The descent was from an altitude of 23,831 feet above sea level to 22,333 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,498 feet in just 2 minutes. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 10 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 1 mile south of Hoofdplaat, Provincie Zeeland, The Netherlands, and lasted for 11 minutes, covering a distance of 64 nautical miles.
The final descent started 30 miles southeast of Felixstowe, Suffolk, England. The descent was from an altitude of 21,417 feet above sea level to 1,624 feet above sea level, a decrease of 19,793 feet in 22 minutes. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 71 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 04 at London Stansted Airport, EGSS, was from the southwest, heading 43.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,271 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed on runway 04 at EGSS London Stansted Airport, which had a length of 2,744 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 141 knots. The touchdown point was 148 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 135 knots. However, the touchdown rate was good at -153 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The total landing distance was 1,513 meters, which was 55% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft took 2 minutes to taxi to the parking area from the runway, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 276 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 66 minutes. The aircraft used 2,417 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at EGSS London Stansted Airport, achieving a high score of 98.8%. The final approach to runway 04 was conducted from the south west, with a heading of 43.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,271 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being satisfactory. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 141 kt, indicating a slight deviation from the optimal landing conditions. The touchdown point was located 148 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was recorded at 135 kt, which is a little faster than the ideal speed. Nevertheless, the touchdown rate of -153 feet per minute (fpm) was considered good, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and precision in navigating the aircraft to the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C and a wind speed of 6 kt from a direction of 30°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 kt and a headwind of 6 kt, which the pilot effectively managed during the landing.
The total landing distance covered by the aircraft was 1,513 meters, accounting for 55% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating a smooth and controlled touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, showcasing the pilot's expertise in navigating the aircraft during the post-landing phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of precision and control. The pilot's ability to manage the aircraft in challenging weather conditions and navigate it to the runway with minimal deviations is a testament to their skill and experience.
