Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,277 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 350 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna 208B, then departed from runway 07R at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (PANC). The takeoff distance was 304 meters, which accounted for 8% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 75 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of -1 °C, with a wind speed of 1 knot at 170°.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb overhead Lake Hood Anchorage (LHD), which is located in Alaska, United States. The climb began at an altitude of 1,138 feet above sea level and increased to 6,018 feet above sea level, a total increase of 4,881 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 1 mile northeast of Sky Harbor Airport (9AK5), and it lasted for 40 minutes, covering a distance of 109 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 5 miles northwest of Boswell Bay Airport (AK97), where the aircraft descended from 6,498 feet above sea level to 2,018 feet above sea level, a total decrease of 4,480 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 5 miles west of Cordova, Alaska, and it lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 09 at Merle K (Mudhole) Smith Airport (PACV) was made from the west, heading 109.0°, at an altitude of 976 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 09, which has a length of 2,277 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was too high at 83 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 350 meters, and the touchdown speed was 69 knots, which was fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -273 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.4 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of -2 °C. The total landing distance was 1,316 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 142 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 65 minutes. The aircraft used 223 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna 208B aircraft successfully landed at Merle K (Mudhole) Smith Airport, with a score of 95.5%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 109.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 976 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 09, which has a length of 2,277 meters.
Upon landing, the threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was too high at 83 knots, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed further before touchdown. The touchdown distance of 350 meters was considered good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down within a reasonable distance from the runway threshold.
Despite the good touchdown distance, the touchdown speed of 69 knots was reported as fast, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed further before touchdown. The touchdown rate of -273 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down with a reasonable rate of descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.4 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were reported as a temperature of -2°C.
The total landing distance of 1,316 meters was 58% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain a straight alignment during the rollout phase of the landing.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with a score of 95.5%. However, there were some areas for improvement, including reducing the threshold speed and touchdown speed, and improving the alignment during the final approach.
