Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,612 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,612 m of the 2,693 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 590 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A321 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, taking approximately 8 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 19L, with a takeoff distance of 1,438 meters, which is 49% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 161 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 13°C temperature and a wind speed of 19 knots at 180°. The crosswind was 5 knots, while the headwind was 19 knots. The enroute climb started 2 miles northwest of Jessheim, Norway, and the aircraft ascended from 1,689 feet above sea level to 27,829 feet, an increase of 26,140 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 96 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 24 miles south of Stavern, Norway, and lasted for 58 minutes, covering a distance of 445 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent overhead Billroda, Germany, descending from 28,710 feet to 19,941 feet, a decrease of 8,770 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 27 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 2 miles south of Orlamuende, Germany, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 2 miles northwest of Wurzbach, Germany, and the aircraft descended from 19,950 feet to 4,060 feet, a decrease of 15,890 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 61 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 28 at EDDN Nuremberg Airport took place from the east, heading 278.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,336 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 28 was successful, with a touchdown point 175 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was slightly above the target at 142 knots, while the touchdown speed was a little fast at 133 knots. The touchdown rate was good at -188 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 14°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 220°. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,532 meters, which is 57% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 2 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 659 nautical miles, taking 105 minutes, and the aircraft used 5,984 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at Nuremberg Airport (EDDN) with a score of 98.3%. The final approach was conducted from the east, heading 278.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,336 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft was on a precise course for landing on runway 28, which has a length of 2,693 meters.
Upon touchdown, the threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 142 knots. The touchdown point was located 175 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. However, the touchdown speed of 133 knots was a bit faster than desired, which may have contributed to the slightly off-center touchdown.
Despite the minor deviations, the touchdown rate was reported as good, with a rate of -188 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during touchdown. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots from 220°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,532 meters, which corresponds to 57% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was reported as perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and coming to a stop within a reasonable distance. While there were some minor deviations from the intended landing spot and speed, the touchdown rate and runway alignment were good, and the aircraft was able to stop within a short distance.
