Departure
Ease the nose up sooner to lift off at 151 kt instead of letting speed build on the ground.
What happened: The aircraft lifted off at 181 kt, 30 kt above the target liftoff speed.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator: 151 kt at liftoff

A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,025 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,025 m of the 2,590 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 709 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Vancouver International Airport, taking approximately 9 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 08R, with a takeoff distance of 1,505 meters, which was 46% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 181 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 14°C, with a wind speed of 14 knots at a direction of 60°.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb overhead the Vancouver International Seaplane Base, reaching an altitude of 16,982 feet above sea level. The climb was from an initial altitude of 1,079 feet, resulting in an increase of 15,903 feet in just 6 minutes, covering a distance of 21 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began 6 miles north of the Waldron Airstrip, lasting for 3 minutes and covering 20 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 1 mile west of the Lopez Island Airport, where the aircraft descended from 17,001 feet to 1,830 feet above sea level, a decrease of 15,171 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 63 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 16R at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 180.0°, at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,404 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 16R was successful, with a total landing distance of 1,944 meters, which was 75% of the runway length. The touchdown point was 294 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 129 knots, which was slightly fast. However, the touchdown rate was excellent at -80 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.5 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.6 meters from the centreline.
After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, taking approximately 7 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 113 nautical miles, taking a total of 40 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,379 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (KSEA) on runway 16R, achieving a score of 90.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 180.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,404 feet above ground level (agl).
The final approach was executed with good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 136 knots. However, the touchdown point was 294 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 129 knots was a bit faster than ideal, but the touchdown rate of -80 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, demonstrating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots from 230°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing, as the aircraft maintained a stable approach and touchdown.
The total landing distance of 1,944 meters was 75% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.5 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was also slightly off by 10.6 meters from the centerline. These minor deviations suggest that the pilot may have had some difficulty maintaining a perfectly aligned approach and touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, but with some minor deviations from the ideal approach and touchdown. The pilot's skills and the aircraft's performance were satisfactory, but there is room for improvement in terms of precision and control.
