MY FS FLIGHTS

Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,601 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 411 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport, taking approximately 3 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 12L, with the aircraft taking off after covering 49% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,274 meters, and the liftoff speed was 147 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at a direction of 60°. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of Perols, France, and rising from an altitude of 1,033 feet above sea level to 34,100 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,067 feet, in 13 minutes and covering 112 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting 2 miles southwest of Saint-Gervazy, France, and lasting 13 minutes, during which it covered 180 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Angerville, France, and descending from 33,791 feet above sea level to 1,536 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,256 feet, in 13 minutes and covering 107 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 31 at Caen-Carpiquet Airport was made from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 305.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,293 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 31, which had a length of 1,601 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 141 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 413 meters, but the touchdown speed of 134 knots was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -276 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 0°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at a direction of 150°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance was 1,210 meters, which was 76% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking approximately 1 minute to cover less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 405 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 45 minutes. The aircraft used 2,965 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Caen-Carpiquet Airport, with a score of 97.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southeast, heading 305.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,293 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, taking into account the local weather conditions.
The temperature at the time of landing was 0°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 150°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 3 knots. Despite these conditions, the pilot maintained good control of the aircraft, ensuring a smooth and stable approach.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed on the runway threshold at a speed of 141 knots, which was within the acceptable threshold speed range. The touchdown distance of 413 meters was also within the expected range, indicating a well-executed landing. However, the touchdown speed of 134 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate of -276 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had maintained a steady and consistent approach path. The total landing distance of 1,210 meters was 76% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft maintained a very good alignment with the runway, indicating that the pilot had successfully transitioned from the landing phase to the taxiing phase. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, resulting in a high score of 97.2%.
