MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,830 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,830 m of the 3,564 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 587 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777-300 taxied from the parking area to runway 17 at SAEZ Minister Pistarini International Airport in 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 17, the aircraft accelerated over a distance of 1,353 m, representing 43 % of the runway, and lifted off at 178 kt; local conditions were 16 °C with a wind of 10 kt from 120°, including a 7 kt cross-wind and a 7 kt head-wind.
The initial climb began 1 mile south-east of SAEZ, climbing from 1,053 ft asl to 34,007 ft asl, an altitude gain of 32,954 ft achieved in 16 minutes while covering 104 nm.
Level cruise commenced 7 nm east of Ceibas (Entre Ríos Province) and continued for 115 minutes, during which 906 nm were flown.
A subsequent climb started 44 nm south-east of SLAB Abapó Airport, raising the aircraft from 34,387 ft asl to 35,090 ft asl, a gain of 703 ft in 2 minutes over a distance of 14 nm.
The next cruise segment began 33 nm east of SLAB Abapó Airport and lasted 219 minutes, covering 1,816 nm.
A further climb was initiated 4 nm north-east of SKBC Las Flores Airport, increasing altitude from 36,051 ft asl to 37,989 ft asl, a rise of 1,938 ft in 2 minutes across 14 nm.
Cruise then continued 11 nm south of Astrea (Departamento del Cesar, Colombia) for 115 minutes, during which 958 nm were traversed.
Descent commenced 61 nm south of MYBO Ocean Cay Heliport, descending from 37,991 ft asl to 4,366 ft asl, a loss of 33,625 ft in 19 minutes while covering 120 nm.
A brief level segment followed 5 nm north-west of FA35 Lindbergh's Landing Airport, lasting 2 minutes and spanning 7 nm.
The next descent began 9 nm west of Kendall West, dropping from 4,173 ft asl to 1,290 ft asl, a decrease of 2,883 ft in 4 minutes over 13 nm.
The final approach to runway 09 at KMIA Miami International Airport was flown from the west on a heading of 87.0°, intercepting the approach at 4 nm and 1,271 ft agl.
Landing on runway 09, whose length is 3,555 m, occurred with a threshold speed of 154 kt; touchdown was 167 m beyond the touchdown zone at 143 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 193 fpm and perfect alignment, while local weather reported 30 °C and a wind of 8 kt from 79° (cross-wind 1 kt, head-wind 8 kt). The total landing roll measured 1,745 m, representing 49 % of the runway, and rollout alignment remained perfect.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in less than 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 3,957 nm, required 497 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 66,065 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A319 approached runway 23 at EDDH Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport from the north-east on a heading of 230.0° at 4 nm and 1,304 ft agl. The final approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
Threshold height was good and the threshold speed was good at 126 kt. The aircraft continued the flare and prepared for touchdown in accordance with the indicated parameters.
Touchdown occurred 353 m down the runway, with a touchdown speed of 117 kt described as a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at minus 310 fpm and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 m from the centreline.
Total landing distance was 1,203 m, representing 39 % of the 3,092 m runway, and rollout alignment was very good. Local weather was 16 °C with wind 9 kt from 300°, giving a 9 kt crosswind component and a 3 kt headwind component.
Refine speed control to reduce the touchdown speed closer to the target threshold speed, and adjust lateral aim to bring the touchdown point within a tighter tolerance of the centreline. These minor adjustments will help convert the already high score of 98.1% into an even more precise landing.
