Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 152 m above the runway. The 305 m gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,132 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 134 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 23 at LIEO Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport. The takeoff distance was 863 meters, which accounted for 35% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 154 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 20 knots from a direction of 250 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 19 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of the airport and ascending from an altitude of 325 meters above sea level to 9,284 meters above sea level, an increase of 8,958.7 meters, in 15 minutes and covering a distance of 69 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 27 miles east of Aleria, France, and lasted for 9 minutes, covering a distance of 69 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead San Vincenzo, Italy, and descending from 9,265 meters above sea level to 490 meters above sea level, a decrease of 8,774.6 meters, in 20 minutes and covering a distance of 93 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 30 at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport was made from the southeast, heading 297.0 degrees at an altitude of 447.9 meters above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 30, which had a length of 2,132 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 150 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 132 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 146 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -1.8 meters per second, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 300 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The total landing distance was 1,266 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight distance was 239 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 58 minutes. The aircraft used 2,593 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its approach and landing procedures. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the southeast, heading 297.0° at an altitude of 447.9 meters above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The final approach to runway 30 was executed with a high degree of precision, with the aircraft maintaining a good threshold height and aligning itself perfectly with the runway. The threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 150 knots, but this did not appear to have any significant impact on the overall landing performance.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was a little fast at 146 knots, but the touchdown distance of 132 meters was good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing process. The touchdown rate was firm at -1.8 meters per second, suggesting that the aircraft had touched down with a moderate amount of force.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and a gentle headwind of 7 knots from a direction of 300°. The crosswind component was negligible, at 0 knots, which further contributed to the smoothness of the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,266 meters was 59% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft had landed with a reasonable amount of runway remaining. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing process and had successfully brought it to a stop.
Overall, the landing of the Boeing 737-800 at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport was a textbook example of a well-executed approach and landing procedure, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of proficiency and control throughout the process.
