MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,799 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,799 m of the 3,082 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 629 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an MD-82, then departed from runway 30 at Bilbao Airport (LEBB) in Spain. The takeoff distance was 1,153 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 163 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, and the headwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started shortly after departure, with the aircraft ascending from an altitude of 1,186 feet above sea level to 32,138 feet above sea level, an increase of 30,951 feet in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 86 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 51 miles west of Arcachon in France and lasted for 32 minutes, covering a distance of 452 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent, which began overhead Mere in Belgium and ended at an altitude of 1,993 feet above sea level, a decrease of 30,114 feet in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 31 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise resumed 2 miles south east of Baal in Belgium and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25L at Brussels Airport (EBBR) began from the east, with the aircraft heading 250 degrees at an altitude of 1,264 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing occurred on runway 25L, which had a length of 3,082 meters. The threshold height was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 142 knots.
The touchdown point was 215 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 131 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -398 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees, with no crosswind and a headwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,721 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 584 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 76 minutes. The aircraft used 5,428 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The MD-82 aircraft successfully landed on runway 25L at Brussels Airport (EBBR) with a score of 91.6%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 250.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,264 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft was on a steady course for a landing on the designated runway.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed at 142 knots, while the threshold height was slightly above the target at 59 feet agl. The touchdown point was located 215 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 131 knots was also a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -398 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and a slight headwind of 1 knot. The runway length of 3,082 meters was sufficient for the aircraft to come to a stop, with a total landing distance of 1,721 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. Similarly, the runway rollout alignment was also perfect, suggesting that the aircraft maintained its alignment with the runway centerline during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, but with some minor deviations from the target parameters.
