MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,131 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 580 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A321 then departed from runway 30R at the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (KMSP), with a takeoff distance of 1,373 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 152 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 26°C temperature and a wind speed of 20 knots at 300°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind was 20 knots. After departing from KMSP, the enroute climb started approximately 1 mile northwest of the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,854 feet above sea level to 36,004 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,150 feet in 17 minutes and covering 154 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 6 miles northeast of La Valle, Wisconsin. This phase lasted for 46 minutes and covered a distance of 636 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead McDonald's Airport (6PN9) in Brandonville, Pennsylvania. The descent from 36,399 feet above sea level to 4,101 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,298 feet, took 19 minutes and covered 98 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, this time overhead Hell's Kitchen, New York, which lasted for 3 minutes and covered 14 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 1 mile northwest of Tuckahoe, New York, with the aircraft descending from 4,091 feet above sea level to 287 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,804 feet, in 6 minutes and covering 11 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 13 at LaGuardia Airport (KLGA) was made from the northwest, with the aircraft heading at 123.0° at 1 nautical mile and 268 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 13 was successful, with the touchdown point being 166 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 141 knots, which was a little fast, while the touchdown rate was fair at -240 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 29°C temperature and a wind speed of 13 knots at 150°. The crosswind was 6 knots, while the headwind was 11 knots. The total landing distance was 1,323 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 917 nautical miles, with the flight lasting 99 minutes and using 6,756 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at LaGuardia Airport's runway 13, achieving a score of 97.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the northwest, heading 123.0° at 1 nautical mile and 268 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on a runway with a length of 2,131 meters, providing ample space for the aircraft to touch down safely.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was above the target speed, coming in at 151 knots. This may have been due to the aircraft's descent rate or the pilot's decision to maintain a higher speed for a smoother landing.
The touchdown point was 166 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 141 knots was slightly faster than the target speed, which may have contributed to the aircraft's slightly higher touchdown rate of -240 feet per minute. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was reported as very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 29°C and winds of 13 knots at 150°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 11 knots. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing, but the pilots were able to manage them effectively.
The total landing distance was 1,323 meters, which is 62% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop quickly. The runway rollout alignment was reported as perfect, suggesting that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Airbus A321's landing at LaGuardia Airport's runway 13 was a successful one, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good handling and control.
