Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,991 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,991 m of the 2,561 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,347 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 26L at London Gatwick Airport, with the Airbus A321 taking off into a local weather condition of 13 °C temperature and a wind of 8 kt at 200 °. The aircraft lifted off the ground at a speed of 173 kt, covering 76% of the 1,886 m runway.
As the aircraft climbed, it started from 1,277 ft above sea level and reached a height of 31,454 ft, an increase of 30,177 ft in just 21 minutes, covering a distance of 141 nm. The enroute climb took place over the English countryside, starting 1 mile south west of Charlwood in Surrey.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, lasting 40 minutes and covering 318 nm. This phase took place over the French countryside, with the aircraft flying overhead Villers-sur-le-Roule in Normandie.
As the aircraft began its descent, it started 1 mile south west of Marsanne in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France. The descent took 29 minutes, covering 166 nm, and brought the aircraft down from 32,000 ft to 103 ft above sea level, a decrease of 31,897 ft.
The aircraft landed on runway 22R at Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, a runway of 2,561 m in length. The threshold height at 76 ft above ground level was well above target, and the threshold speed was also well above target at 151 kt. The touchdown point was 629 m beyond the touchdown zone, but the touchdown speed of 125 kt was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -327 fpm.
However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.9 m from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.6 m from the centreline. The total landing distance was 1,608 m, covering 63% of the runway.
Taxiing to the parking from the runway took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 628 nm, taking 92 minutes to complete, and the aircraft used 4,754 kg of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 22R at LFMN Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, achieving a score of 74.4%. The landing was conducted under favorable weather conditions, with a temperature of 12 °C and a wind speed of 9 kt at 240°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 kt, while the headwind component was 9 kt, which contributed to a relatively smooth landing.
The aircraft touched down at a speed of 125 kt, which was within the target range. The touchdown rate was firm at -327 fpm, indicating a controlled descent. However, the touchdown point was 629 m beyond the touchdown zone, which may have been due to the pilot's decision to extend the landing distance to accommodate the crosswind.
The threshold height at 76 ft agl was well above the target, and the threshold speed was also well above the target at 151 kt. This suggests that the aircraft was configured for a longer landing distance, which may have been influenced by the wind conditions.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.9 m from the centreline, which may have been due to the pilot's difficulty in aligning the aircraft with the runway centreline. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 12.6 m from the centreline, which may have been due to the pilot's continued difficulty in maintaining alignment during the rollout phase.
The total landing distance was 1,608 m, which accounted for 63% of the runway length. This is a relatively long landing distance, but it may have been necessary to accommodate the wind conditions and the aircraft's configuration. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of alignment and touchdown point accuracy.
