Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,601 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 549 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LFML Marseille Provence Airport, a process that took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 13L, with a takeoff distance of 1,697 meters, which was 50% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 157 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 12°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 216 degrees. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 0 knots. After departing from Marseille, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started overhead Saint-Victoret in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region of France. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,106 feet above sea level to 29,408 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,302 feet in just 8 minutes, covering a distance of 84 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 1 mile south of Charmes-sur-Rhone in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France. This phase lasted for 22 minutes and covered a distance of 259 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent, which began overhead Gazeran in the Ile-de-France region of France. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 30,245 feet above sea level to 1,538 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,707 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 90 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 31 at LFRK Caen-Carpiquet Airport was made from the southeast, with a heading of 305.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,295 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft landed on runway 31, which had a length of 1,601 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 139 knots. The touchdown point was 126 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 128 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was also good at -156 feet per minute.
However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.2 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 11.9 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 0°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 280 degrees, with a crosswind component of 1 knot and a headwind component of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,225 meters, which was 77% of the runway length. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 442 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 55 minutes. The aircraft used 4,017 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Caen-Carpiquet Airport, LFRK, with a score of 92.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southeast, heading 305.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,295 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, achieving a good threshold height and speed of 139 knots at the threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 126 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, with a speed of 128 knots, which is considered good. The touchdown rate of -156 feet per minute (fpm) was also within acceptable limits. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 11.2 meters, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 0°C, a wind speed of 2 knots from 280°, and a crosswind of 1 knot and headwind of 1 knot. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,225 meters was 77% of the available runway length of 1,601 meters, which is a relatively efficient use of the runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 11.9 meters, which may indicate some issues with the pilot's ability to maintain alignment during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot achieving good speeds and rates, but with some minor deviations from the ideal touchdown position and rollout alignment.
