Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,804 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,804 m of the 3,807 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 577 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by an Airbus A321 aircraft. The aircraft began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 23R at Manchester Airport (EGCC), with a takeoff distance of 1,381 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 165 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 10°C temperature and winds of 19 knots at 199 degrees. The crosswind was 10 knots, while the headwind was 16 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile north of Mobberley, Cheshire East, England, where the aircraft climbed from 1,219 feet above sea level to 4,491 feet, an increase of 3,271 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, starting 1 mile south east of High Legh, Cheshire East, England, and lasting 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The next enroute climb phase began 2 miles north east of Middlewich, Cheshire East, England, where the aircraft climbed from 4,803 feet to 35,562 feet, an increase of 30,759 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 151 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting overhead Borough Green, Kent, England, and lasting 22 minutes, covering a distance of 157 nautical miles. As the aircraft continued its journey, it encountered various weather conditions and entered several descent phases, starting 1 mile north east of Sint-Genesius-Rode, Flanders, Belgium, where the aircraft descended from 35,554 feet to 17,588 feet, a decrease of 17,966 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 62 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting overhead La Calamine, Wallonia, Belgium, and lasting 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The next descent phase began 2 miles south of Raeren, Wallonia, Belgium, where the aircraft descended from 17,624 feet to 10,091 feet, a decrease of 7,533 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 24 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting overhead ETNN Nörvenich Air Base, Nörvenich, Germany, and lasting 3 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The next descent phase began overhead Wesseling, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, where the aircraft descended from 9,737 feet to 6,803 feet, a decrease of 2,934 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 2 miles south of Alfter, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, and lasting 3 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The next descent phase began 1 mile west of Bad Honnef, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, where the aircraft descended from 6,211 feet to 4,847 feet, a decrease of 1,364 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting overhead Leubsdorf, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, and lasting 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The next descent phase began 1 mile north of Kurtscheid, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, where the aircraft descended
The Airbus A321 successfully landed on runway 32R at EDDK Cologne Bonn Airport, achieving a score of 92.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south east, heading 319.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,301 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on the designated runway.
The threshold height at 63 feet agl was above the target, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal landing height. However, the threshold speed was satisfactory at 136 knots, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain a stable approach speed. The touchdown point was 157 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 130 knots was slightly faster than the ideal speed, but the touchdown rate of -374 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 9°C and a gentle wind of 4 knots at 340°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach. The runway length of 3,807 meters provided a sufficient margin for the aircraft to land safely.
The total landing distance of 1,720 meters was 45% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control of the aircraft during the post-landing phase. Overall, the landing was executed with precision, and the aircraft came to a stop safely on the runway.
