MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,044 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,044 m of the 2,495 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 850 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 08R at London Gatwick Airport, with the Airbus A319 taking off after a distance of 818 meters, which was 33% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 152 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 307 degrees, resulting in a negligible crosswind and tailwind.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 2 miles north-east of Copthorne, West Sussex, England, at an altitude of 1,187 feet above sea level. The climb was steep, with the aircraft reaching an altitude of 3,489 feet above sea level in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. This represented an increase of 2,302 feet in altitude.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile south-west of Crockham Hill, Kent, England. This phase lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 1 mile east of Edenbridge, Kent, England. The descent was from an altitude of 3,540 feet above sea level to 1,490 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,050 feet in altitude, which was achieved in 3 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26L at London Gatwick Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 258.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,284 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 26L, which had a length of 2,495 meters. The threshold height at 67 feet above ground level was above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 138 knots.
The touchdown point was 439 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 131 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -202 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect. At the time of landing, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 6 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 323 degrees, resulting in a negligible crosswind and a headwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,968 meters, which was 79% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The total flight distance was 24 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 15 minutes. The aircraft used 559 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed on runway 26L at EGKK London Gatwick Airport, achieving an overall score of 87.5%. The final approach to the runway was initiated from the east, heading 258.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,284 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 439 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively significant distance. The touchdown speed of 131 knots was slightly above the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to maintain a more controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -202 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft's descent was not excessively steep.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 6°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots from 323°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions were favorable for a smooth landing.
The runway touchdown alignment was reported to be perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
However, the threshold height at 67 feet agl was above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 138 knots. These deviations may indicate that the pilot could have benefited from a more precise approach and touchdown. Nevertheless, the overall performance of the aircraft and the pilot was satisfactory, and the landing was considered successful.
