Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,541 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,541 m of the 2,795 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 478 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EVRA Riga International Airport. This process took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 36, and the takeoff distance was 1,044 meters, which accounted for 36% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 3 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at 340 degrees. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots. After departing from Riga, the enroute climb started overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,076 feet above sea level to 35,754 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,678 feet in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 102 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 1 mile west of Liepaja, Latvia, and lasted for 81 minutes, covering a distance of 505 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 1 mile northeast of Steinbach, Germany, and descended from 37,112 feet above sea level to 1,483 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,629 feet in 26 minutes and covering a distance of 91 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07L at EDDF Frankfurt Airport was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading at 70.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,130 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 07L, which had a length of 2,795 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 141 knots. The touchdown point was 61 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 138 knots, which was fast. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -102 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at Frankfurt Airport were characterized by a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots at 70 degrees. The crosswind component was 0 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. The total landing distance was 1,459 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area from the runway, taking 3 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 707 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 128 minutes. The aircraft used 4,304 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed on runway 07L at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF) with a score of 99.7%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the southwest, heading 70.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,130 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft touched down on the runway with a smooth touchdown rate of -102 feet per minute (fpm).
The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 141 knots (kn). However, the touchdown speed was slightly fast at 138 kn, which may have been due to the aircraft's high approach speed. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 6 kn from a direction of 70°. This resulted in a headwind of 6 kn, which may have contributed to the aircraft's high approach speed. The crosswind component was negligible at 0 kn.
The total landing distance was 1,459 meters, which is 52% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing and that the pilot executed the approach and landing with precision. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was executed with high precision and control, and the aircraft was properly configured for landing. The score of 99.7% reflects the high level of proficiency demonstrated by the pilot and the aircraft's performance during the landing.
