Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,417 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 354 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a FFX P180, then departed from runway 09 at Key West International Airport (KEYW). The takeoff distance was 548 meters, which accounted for 38% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 116 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at a direction of 32 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb overhead Stock Island, Florida, and ascended from an altitude of 1,040 feet above sea level to 8,319 feet above sea level, an increase of 7,279 feet, in 4 minutes and covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles south of Cudjoe Key, Florida. This phase lasted for 16 minutes and covered a distance of 65 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 1 mile south-east of Key Largo, Florida, and descended from 8,306 feet above sea level to 2,133 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,173 feet, in 9 minutes and covering a distance of 22 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 3 miles east of Florida City, Florida, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The final approach to runway 06 at Homestead ARB Airport (KHST) was made from the south-west, with a heading of 42.0 degrees at an altitude of 955 feet above ground level and a distance of 2 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 06 at KHST was successful, with a touchdown distance of 355 meters, which was 22% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 101 knots, and the touchdown rate was -152 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 14 knots at a direction of 60 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 14 knots.
The total landing distance was 769 meters, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 105 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 38 minutes. The aircraft used 218 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, identified as FFX P180 03 01, successfully landed at KHST Homestead ARB Airport, showcasing exceptional piloting skills. The final approach to runway 06 was executed from the southwest, with a heading of 42.0° at a distance of 2 nautical miles and an altitude of 955 feet above ground level (agl). This precise approach allowed the aircraft to maintain a good threshold height, indicating a high level of control and stability.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft demonstrated a good threshold speed of 117 knots, which is a critical factor in ensuring a safe and controlled landing. The touchdown distance of 355 meters was also within acceptable limits, further emphasizing the pilot's skill and experience. The touchdown speed of 101 knots was also satisfactory, and the touchdown rate of -152 feet per minute (fpm) was well within the recommended range.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a wind speed of 14 knots at 60°. Although there was a crosswind component of 3 knots, the headwind of 14 knots helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing process. The total landing distance of 769 meters, which accounted for only 22% of the runway length, was impressive and demonstrated the pilot's ability to navigate the aircraft with precision.
The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing process and was able to bring it to a stop in a safe and controlled manner. Overall, the landing of FFX P180 03 01 at KHST Homestead ARB Airport was a textbook example of safe and efficient aviation, with a score of 99.8% reflecting the pilot's exceptional skills and experience.
