MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,326 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,040 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 27 at RCKH Kaohsiung International Airport. The takeoff distance was 3,601 feet, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 154 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 75°F and a wind speed of 12 knots at 280°.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb overhead RCKH Kaohsiung International Airport, Kaohsiung (Xiaogang), Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The climb took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 73 nautical miles, with the aircraft rising from an altitude of 1,050 feet above sea level to 33,165 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,114 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 66 miles south of RCCM Qimei, Taiwan, and lasted for 25 minutes, covering a distance of 176 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 31 miles south of Jieshi, Guangdong Sheng, China, and took 30 minutes to descend from an altitude of 33,120 feet above sea level to 1,336 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,784 feet. The descent covered a distance of 115 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 07C at VHHH Hong Kong International Airport was made from the southwest, heading 71.0° at an altitude of 1,302 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 07C at VHHH Hong Kong International Airport was successful, with a touchdown distance of 1,032 feet, which was 33% of the runway length. The threshold speed was good at 136 knots, and the touchdown speed was 130 knots, which was also good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -220 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 12 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 66°F and a wind speed of 5 knots at 90°.
The total landing distance was 3,769 feet, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 373 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 86 minutes. The aircraft used 8,238 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at Hong Kong International Airport (VHHH) on runway 07C. The final approach was conducted from the southwest, heading 71.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,302 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its approach, achieving a score of 99.0%.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 130 knots, which was within the acceptable threshold speed of 136 knots. The touchdown distance of 1,032 feet was also within the expected range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown rate of -220 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have maintained a more stable rate of descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 12 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to a minor deviation in the aircraft's approach path. Despite this, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively to bring the aircraft to a stop.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 66°F and a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 90°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft's approach. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft came to a stop within 33% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance.
