Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,891 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 208 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 07C at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF), with a takeoff distance of 976 meters, which accounted for 24% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 154 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 6°C temperature and a wind speed of 13 knots at 50 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, and the headwind was 12 knots. After departing from Frankfurt, the enroute climb started overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,364 feet above sea level to 30,266 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,902 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 77 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 2 miles west of Crailsheim, Germany, and lasted for 9 minutes, covering a distance of 65 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 2 miles east of Adelzhausen, Germany, descending from 30,268 feet above sea level to 3,621 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,648 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 65 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again overhead Rum, Austria, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 08 at Innsbruck Airport (LOWI) was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 83.0 degrees at 2 nautical miles and 719 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 08 at Innsbruck Airport was successful, with a touchdown distance of 207 meters, which was 47% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 127 knots, which was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -530 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 0°C temperature and a wind speed of 5 knots at 110 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the headwind was 5 knots. After landing, the aircraft taxiing to the parking from the runway took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 218 nautical miles, taking 52 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,471 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at Innsbruck Airport (LOWI) with a score of 95.2%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 83.0° at 2 nautical miles and 719 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft then landed on runway 08, which has a length of 1,891 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway threshold. The threshold speed of 130 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the approach. The touchdown distance of 207 meters was also good, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent.
However, there were a few areas for improvement. The touchdown speed of 127 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, which may have contributed to a harder touchdown. The touchdown rate of -530 feet per minute (fpm) was very hard, indicating that the aircraft may have touched down with a higher than ideal rate of descent. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's direction during the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from 110°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed and harder touchdown rate.
The total landing distance of 888 meters was 47% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's direction during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were a few areas for improvement that the pilot can work on to achieve an even higher score.
