Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: off the centreline and wings not level.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,002 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 648 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at OEAB Abha International Airport took approximately 9 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 13, utilizing 649 meters, or 19% of the runway, to achieve liftoff at a speed of 75 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius.
Following departure, the aircraft initiated an enroute climb, commencing 1 mile south east of OEAB Abha International Airport. The climb phase saw the aircraft ascend from 7,835 feet above sea level to 9,998 feet, an increase of 2,163 feet, in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase that followed lasted 226 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 780 nautical miles. The aircraft then initiated a second climb phase, this time from 10,328 feet to 11,699 feet, an increase of 1,371 feet, in 2 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles. The subsequent level cruise phase lasted only 2 minutes, covering a short distance of 8 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it initiated a descent phase, commencing 15 miles east of Barah. The descent saw the aircraft decrease from 11,271 feet to 2,509 feet, a decrease of 8,762 feet, in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 36 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a right-hand pattern, with a distance of 4 nautical miles covered in 109 seconds. A successful landing was made on runway 01 at HSOB El-Obeid Airport, with a touchdown point 203 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The total landing distance was 725 meters, or 24% of the runway. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 2 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 859 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 115 minutes and a fuel consumption of 545 kilograms.
The final approach to runway 01 at HSOB El-Obeid Airport from the south was initiated with a heading of 9.0° at 1 nm and 546 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a threshold height of 74 ft above ground level, which was well above the target. However, the threshold speed of 61 kt was slightly below the target, indicating a slight delay in the touchdown process.
As the aircraft touched down 203 m beyond the touchdown zone, the touchdown speed of 44 kt was good, and the touchdown rate of -384 fpm was firm, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 28 °C and a wind of 11 kt at 27°, resulted in a crosswind of 4 kt and a headwind of 11 kt, which did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 725 m was 24% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, with the aircraft maintaining its centerline alignment throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was scored 85.0%, reflecting a good performance in terms of approach quality, touchdown characteristics, and rollout alignment.
