Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,662 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,662 m of the 3,046 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 302 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Tampa International Airport, taking approximately 4 minutes to cover a distance of 1 nautical mile. Departure roll occurred on runway 19R, with the aircraft taking off after covering 47% of the runway's length, which was 1,588 meters. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Tampa International Airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 36 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots at 260 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, while the headwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile south of the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,040 feet above sea level to 11,913 feet above sea level, an increase of 10,873 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise 1 mile southeast of Gandy, Florida, lasting 2 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. However, it soon began another climb, this time from 11,913 feet to 36,141 feet above sea level, an increase of 24,228 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 88 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, this time lasting 46 minutes and covering 297 nautical miles, starting 7 miles south of Bronson, Florida.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began its descent 1 mile south of Cherryvale, South Carolina, descending from 35,854 feet above sea level to 7,044 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,810 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 121 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, lasting 3 minutes and covering 4 nautical miles, starting 1 mile southwest of Moncure, North Carolina. However, it soon began its final descent, this time from 7,053 feet above sea level to 1,654 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,398 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 16 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 05L at Raleigh-Durham International Airport was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading at 45.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,271 feet above ground level. The landing occurred on the runway, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 111 knots and a touchdown rate of -361 feet per minute. The touchdown distance was 303 meters, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot at 180 degrees, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,574 meters, which was 52% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 4 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 541 nautical miles, taking a total of 103 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,711 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at KRDU Raleigh Durham International Airport, achieving a score of 97.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 45.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,271 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed smoothly on runway 05L, which has a length of 3,046 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed of 120 knots was maintained, indicating a well-executed approach. The touchdown distance of 303 meters was also within acceptable limits, and the touchdown speed of 111 knots was good. However, the touchdown rate was slightly firm at -361 feet per minute (fpm), which may indicate a slight loss of control during the landing.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or a minor issue with the aircraft's navigation system. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 180°. The crosswind and tailwind components were minimal, at 1 knot each, which did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,574 meters was 52% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, and the pilot maintained control throughout the landing. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the aircraft came to a stop safely on the runway.
