Improve the pattern downwind leg
The 45-degrees-behind-the-wing cue assumes you can turn your head and use peripheral vision. Downwind spacing cues like "put the wingtip halfway up the strut" assume a fixed, known eyepoint. Neither survives a monitor unmodified. If you fly on a fixed monitor, stop pretending and fly a numbers-based circuit.

One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,585 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 296 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Cibao International Airport, the Cessna 152 began its takeoff roll on runway 29, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 65 kt in a distance of 2,370 meters, which represented 91% of the available runway length. The aircraft lifted off into a calm atmosphere, with a temperature of 15 °C and a gentle headwind of 1 kt from a direction of 270 °. The pilot then initiated a left-hand pattern entry, navigating the aircraft through a tight turn in a distance of less than 1 nm in 11 seconds.
As the aircraft continued its pattern, it encountered a slight crosswind from the same direction as the headwind, but the pilot successfully managed the turn, completing it in a distance of less than 1 nm in 33 seconds. The downwind turn was executed at an angle of 45 degrees to the runway, with a distance of 4 nm. The pilot then aligned the aircraft for a final approach to runway 29, descending from an altitude of 653 ft agl at a heading of 277.0 °. The landing was executed with a threshold speed that was well above the target, but the touchdown distance of 323 m was satisfactory. However, the touchdown speed of 51 kt was slightly higher than desired, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.3 m from the centreline.
The flight concluded with a total distance of 11 nm, which was covered in 6 minutes, and a fuel consumption of 2 kg. The pilot's performance was satisfactory, considering the calm weather conditions, and the aircraft's handling characteristics were well within normal parameters. The flight demonstrated a good understanding of the aircraft's capabilities and the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft in a variety of situations.
The final approach to runway 29 at MDST Cibao International Airport from the east was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 277.0° at 1 nm and 653 ft above ground level. The approach quality was excellent, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target, registering at 66 kt, which may have been due to the aircraft's weight or other factors.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, the touchdown distance was satisfactory at 323 m, but the touchdown speed was slightly too fast at 51 kt. Nevertheless, the touchdown rate was perfect, with a rate of -49 fpm, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 4.3 m, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach path or a minor error in the pilot's alignment.
The rollout phase was uneventful, with the aircraft maintaining a stable and controlled path along the runway. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 15 °C and a gentle headwind of 1 kt. The crosswind component was negligible at 0 kt, allowing the pilot to maintain a stable approach and landing. Overall, the landing was scored at 99.5%, reflecting the high level of precision and control demonstrated by the pilot throughout the approach and landing phases.
