MY FS FLIGHTS

Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,310 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,870 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 08 at KDEN Denver International Airport. The takeoff distance was 5,538 feet, which accounted for 46% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 144 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 47°F and winds of 6 knots at 210°. The crosswind was 5 knots, while the tailwind was 3 knots. As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, which started 3 miles east of KDEN Denver International Airport. The climb was from an altitude of 6,127 feet above sea level to 33,985 feet above sea level, an increase of 27,858 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 65 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 10 miles west of 4CO2 Owl Canyon Gliderport Wellington. This phase lasted for 32 minutes and covered a distance of 191 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 11 miles south of KLND Hunt Field Lander. The descent was from an altitude of 33,894 feet above sea level to 7,743 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,151 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 105 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 19 at KJAC Jackson Hole Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 199.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,319 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 19, which had a length of 6,310 feet. The threshold height at 78 feet above ground level was well above the target, while the threshold speed was good at 124 knots. The touchdown point was 286 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 121 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -428 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 20°F and winds of 3 knots at 30°. The crosswind was 0 knots, while the tailwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 3,911 feet, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 370 nautical miles, taking 80 minutes, and the aircraft used 6,299 pounds of fuel.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at KJAC Jackson Hole Airport, achieving an overall score of 86.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 199.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,319 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 19, which has a length of 6,310 feet.
Upon reaching the threshold, the aircraft was found to be at an altitude of 78 feet agl, which was well above the target height. However, the threshold speed was satisfactory at 124 knots. The touchdown point was located 286 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 121 knots was slightly faster than the desired speed, and the touchdown rate of -428 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard.
Despite these minor issues, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 20°F and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 30°. The crosswind component was negligible at 0 knots, while the tailwind component was 2 knots.
The total landing distance of 3,911 feet was 62% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered satisfactory, with some minor areas for improvement.
