Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,825 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,825 m of the 3,589 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 629 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 08R at Leipzig/Halle Airport, with the Airbus A321 taking off after a distance of 1,150 meters, which is 32% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 176 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 23°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at a direction of 58°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile northeast of Schkeuditz, Saxony, Germany, at an altitude of 1,490 feet above sea level. The climb was steep, with the aircraft reaching an altitude of 2,658 feet in less than 1 minute, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The enroute level cruise that followed started 2 miles east of the airport and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent 2 miles southeast of Schkeuditz, descending from an altitude of 3,009 feet to 2,059 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. Another enroute level cruise started overhead Zoeschen, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 08R at Leipzig/Halle Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft heading at 86.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,240 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, which is 3,589 meters long. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 135 knots.
The touchdown point was 212 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 127 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was excellent at -90 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.6 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 22°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at a direction of 77°, resulting in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,743 meters, which is 49% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.5 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 18 nautical miles, taking 15 minutes, and the aircraft used 14,521 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at EDDP Leipzig/Halle Airport, achieving a score of 94.0%. The final approach to runway 08R was initiated from the west, with a heading of 86.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,240 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 08R, which has a length of 3,589 meters. However, the threshold height at 60 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high during the approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was well above the target at 135 knots, suggesting that the aircraft may have been descending too quickly or that the pilots may have been applying too much power.
The touchdown point was 212 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively significant deviation. Furthermore, the touchdown speed of 127 knots was a little fast, indicating that the pilots may have been unable to fully arrest the aircraft's descent before touchdown. On the other hand, the touchdown rate of -90 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft's descent.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.6 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path or a miscalculation of the runway alignment. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a gentle headwind of 2 knots at 77°.
The total landing distance of 1,743 meters was 49% of the runway length, which is a relatively high percentage. This may indicate that the pilots may have been unable to fully utilize the available runway length, possibly due to the high touchdown speed or the misaligned touchdown point. Finally, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.5 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's rollout or a miscalculation of the runway alignment.
