MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,706 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,706 m of the 2,598 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 361 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777-300ER taxied from the parking area to runway 20 at SGAS Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, a movement that required 8 minutes and covered 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 20, the aircraft accelerated over a takeoff distance of 892 m, representing 27 % of the runway, and lifted off at 155 kt; ambient conditions were 13 °C with a wind of 4 kt from 164°, a cross-wind component of 2 kt and a head-wind component of 3 kt.
Climb commenced overhead SGAS, with the airplane ascending from 1,279 ft asl to 37,982 ft asl, an increase of 36,704 ft achieved in 14 minutes while covering 93 nm.
Level cruise began 9 miles south-west of Herradura in Formosa Province, Argentina, and was sustained for 124 minutes, during which 860 nm were flown.
Descent was initiated 5 miles south-west of SCMO Los Monos Airport in the Maule Region of Chile, with the aircraft descending from 37,997 ft asl to 1,329 ft asl, a loss of 36,668 ft in 21 minutes and a distance of 117 nm.
The final approach to runway 20 at SCIE Carriel Sur Airport was conducted from the north-east, on a heading of 205.0° at 4 nm and 1,295 ft agl.
Landing on runway 20, which is 2,598 m long, was executed with a threshold speed of 141 kt; touchdown occurred 363 m down the runway at 138 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 278 fpm. Runway-touchdown alignment was very good, and local weather reported a temperature of 10 °C, wind 3 kt from 169°, a cross-wind of 2 kt and a head-wind of 2 kt.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,642 m, equivalent to 63 % of the runway, and runway-rollout alignment was perfect.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 2 minutes, traveling less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 1,078 nm, required 171 minutes, and consumed 19,351 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 777-300ER received a final score of 98.1 % and entered the final approach to runway 20 at SCIE Carriel Sur Airport from the north-east on a heading of 205.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,295 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1 000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
Threshold height was reported as good and the threshold speed was good at 141 kt. The aircraft continued the flare with the expected height and configuration, maintaining the established approach parameters.
Touchdown occurred 363 m down the runway at a speed of 138 kt, noted as a little fast, with a touchdown rate of minus 278 fpm described as fair. Runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The total landing distance was 1 642 m, representing 63 % of the 2 598 m runway, and the rollout alignment was perfect. Local weather was 10 °C with wind 3 kt from 169°, a 2 kt crosswind and a 2 kt headwind.
Reduce the touchdown speed slightly toward the target VREF to tighten the margin on the runway and improve the rate of descent, which will further enhance the already strong alignment and runway usage.
