Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,737 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 315 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at KDEN Denver International Airport. This process took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 34L, and the takeoff distance was 1,962 meters, which is 40% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 150 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 9°C and winds of 8 knots at 70°. The crosswind was 8 knots, and the headwind was 3 knots. The enroute climb began 2 miles northwest of KDEN Denver International Airport and continued for 12 minutes, covering a distance of 121 nautical miles. During this time, the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 6,385 feet above sea level to 37,919 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,534 feet.
After reaching cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 3 miles southwest of Carbondale, Colorado. This phase lasted for 20 minutes and covered a distance of 466 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 18 miles east of Baker, California, and lasted for 16 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 37,890 feet above sea level to 1,467 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,423 feet. The descent covered a distance of 143 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final approach to runway 20R at KSNA John Wayne Orange County International Airport. The approach was made from the northeast, heading 208.0°, at an altitude of 1,397 feet above ground level and 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 1,737 meters, and the threshold height was good. The threshold speed was also good at 135 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 316 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 131 knots. The touchdown rate was good at -194 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 18°C and winds of 6 knots at 180°, with a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 739 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 59 minutes. The aircraft used 4,590 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at John Wayne Orange County International Airport (KSNA) on runway 20R, achieving a score of 99.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north-east, heading 208.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,397 feet above ground level (agl).
The final approach was executed with good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing. The threshold speed of 135 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the approach. The touchdown distance of 316 meters was also good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down within a safe distance from the runway threshold.
However, the touchdown speed of 131 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, which may have resulted in a slightly longer rollout distance. The touchdown rate of -194 feet per minute (fpm) was good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down smoothly and maintain control.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 18°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 180°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and improve the landing performance.
The total landing distance of 974 meters was 56% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was executed with good precision and control, and the aircraft was able to stop safely within the designated runway area. The score of 99.8% reflects the high level of proficiency demonstrated by the pilot during the landing.
