MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: centreline 2.0° off, against a 1° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,353 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 363 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A220-300 taxied from the parking area to runway 36 at CYWG Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 36, the aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 147 kt and left the ground after a takeoff run of 1,624 m, representing 48 % of the runway length; ambient temperature was 22 °C with a wind of 7 kt from 349°, a 2 kt cross-wind component and a 7 kt head-wind component.
The climb commenced 1 mile north of CYWG, with the airplane climbing from 1,763 ft asl to 37,014 ft asl, an altitude gain of 35,251 ft achieved in 14 minutes while covering 199 nm.
The first cruise segment began 21 miles north-west of CZUC Ignace Municipal Airport and was maintained for 20 minutes, during which the aircraft flew 663 nm at level altitude.
Descent operations started 11 miles north-west of CSM6 Blue Sea Lake Seaplane Base Maniwaki, descending from 37,009 ft asl to 3,091 ft asl, a loss of 33,918 ft over 14 minutes and a distance of 133 nm.
A second level cruise was initiated 1 mile south-west of CSS3 Montreal / Les Cèdres Airport, lasting 6 minutes and covering 21 nm before the final approach began.
The final approach to runway 06L at CYUL Montreal / Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport was flown from the south-west on a heading of 45.0° at 4 nm and 1,181 ft agl.
Landing on runway 06L was executed with a threshold speed of 128 kt, a touchdown distance of 363 m, a touchdown speed of 123 kt and a touchdown rate of minus 252 fpm; runway touchdown alignment was perfect and the total landing distance recorded was 1,246 m, equivalent to 37 % of the runway length.
Runway rollout alignment remained perfect throughout the deceleration phase, confirming the aircraft remained on the centreline after touchdown.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking stand in 8 minutes, traversing a further 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 1,024 nm, required 71 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 4,332 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A220-300 executed a final approach to runway 06L at CYUL Montreal / Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport from the south-west, tracking a heading of 45.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,181 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits, and the local weather was 21 °C with a wind of 6 kt from 040 °, giving a head-wind component of 6 kt and no cross-wind.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft maintained a good threshold height and the threshold speed was slightly below target at 128 kt. The flare was completed without deviation and the aircraft prepared for touchdown within the expected parameters.
Touchdown occurred 363 m down the runway at a speed of 123 kt, which was judged good, and the vertical rate at touchdown was fair at -252 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect, confirming accurate lateral control through the flare.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,246 m, representing 37 % of the 3,353 m runway, and runway rollout alignment remained perfect throughout the deceleration phase.
For continued excellence, fine-tune the approach speed to meet the target threshold speed and adjust flare timing to achieve a slightly lower touchdown rate. These minor refinements will help maintain the high 98.7 % score.
