Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,836 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,836 m of the 3,347 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 716 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, Vueling EC-MGZ, then departed from runway 01 at GCFV Fuerteventura Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,503 meters, which accounted for 77% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 156 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 22 knots from a direction of 0 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed out of Fuerteventura Airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the El Matorral area of the Canary Islands. The climb took 24 minutes and covered a distance of 157 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,104 feet above sea level to 37,213 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,109 feet. The enroute level cruise phase began 99 miles northwest of Sidi Ifni, Morocco, and lasted for 47 minutes, covering a distance of 383 nautical miles.
The enroute descent phase started 31 miles west of Larache, Morocco, and took 24 minutes to complete, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 36,937 feet above sea level to 1,401 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,536 feet. The descent covered a distance of 140 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 27 at LEZL Sevilla Airport was made from the east, heading 270.0 degrees, at an altitude of 1,284 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 27 at LEZL Sevilla Airport was successful, with a touchdown point located 294 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 129 knots, which was considered good, and the touchdown rate was fair at -205 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was also very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 219 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,750 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 691 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 115 minutes. The aircraft used 4,337 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, Vueling EC-MGZ, successfully landed at LEZL Sevilla Airport, achieving a score of 95.2%. The final approach to runway 27 was conducted from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,284 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing was executed with good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 139 knots. The touchdown point was located 294 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively safe distance. The touchdown speed of 129 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
However, the touchdown rate of -205 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down more gently. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained a stable and aligned approach to the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and a relatively light wind of 8 knots from 219°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots, which is relatively minimal and should not have significantly impacted the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,750 meters was 52% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good skills and control throughout the approach and landing phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown rate, which could be achieved through more precise control of the aircraft's descent.
