MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,833 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 607 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 12 at SBFN Fernando de Noronha Airport. The Airbus A320 took off after a takeoff distance of 804 meters, which accounted for 44% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots, and the aircraft climbed steadily into the air.
As the aircraft climbed, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at 130 degrees. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the headwind component was 11 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile east of the airport and reached an altitude of 1,664 feet above sea level, an increase of 531 feet from the initial altitude of 1,133 feet. This climb was achieved in just 1 minute and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. This phase began approximately 2 miles northeast of the airport. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 12 at SBFN Fernando de Noronha Airport, approaching from the west at a heading of 97.0 degrees and at an altitude of 699 feet above ground level, approximately 2 nautical miles from the runway.
However, the aircraft was required to execute a go-around at an altitude of 0 feet above ground level. After the go-around, the aircraft successfully landed on runway 12, which had a length of 1,833 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 122 knots. The touchdown point was 182 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 110 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was excellent at -87 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions during the landing phase were characterized by a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at 130 degrees. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots. The total landing distance was 1,318 meters, which accounted for 72% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in less than 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 13 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 12 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 476 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at SBFN Fernando de Noronha Airport, achieving a score of 97.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 97.0° at 2 nautical miles and 699 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 12, which has a length of 1,833 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed, reaching 128 kt. This minor deviation from the target speed did not affect the overall performance of the landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft touched down 182 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 110 kt was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -87 fpm was excellent, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C and a wind speed of 10 kt at 130°. The crosswind component was 6 kt, while the headwind component was 8 kt. These conditions did not pose a significant challenge to the aircraft, and the pilot was able to maintain a stable approach and landing.
The total landing distance of 1,318 meters was 72% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This indicates that the aircraft was able to maintain a high level of control and precision throughout the landing, and the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop quickly and safely. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft coming to a stop in a straight line, indicating excellent control and coordination from the pilot.
Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft performing well in a variety of conditions. The pilot's skills and experience were evident in the smooth and controlled approach and landing, and the aircraft's performance was consistent with its design and capabilities.
