Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,043 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 577 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Palm Springs International Airport (KPSP), the aircraft began its journey down runway 31L, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 82 kt after a takeoff distance of 194 m, which represented 7% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 42 °C, with a wind of 9 kt at 314°, resulting in a 9 kt headwind and a negligible crosswind component.
As the aircraft climbed away from KPSP, it transitioned into an enroute climb phase, which began approximately 1 mile northeast of the airport. The climb profile featured a significant increase in altitude, from 1,472 ft asl to 23,006 ft asl, over a distance of 45 nm, in a period of 14 minutes. Following this climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 111 minutes and covered a distance of 524 nm. This phase was punctuated by several descent and climb segments, including a notable descent from 22,993 ft asl to 14,997 ft asl, in a period of 7 minutes, and a subsequent level cruise phase near the Flying Dog Ranch Airstrip. The final descent phase began approximately 14 miles south of Yampa Valley Airport (KHDN), where the aircraft landed on runway 28 after a total flight distance of 644 nm.
The landing at KHDN featured a threshold speed that was well above the target value, at 92 kt, and a touchdown speed of 86 kt, which was slightly fast. The touchdown point was located 151 m beyond the touchdown zone, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.8 m from the centreline. The total landing distance of 1,088 m represented 36% of the available runway length, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in a period of 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nm. The total flight duration was 147 minutes, and the aircraft consumed 445 kg of fuel during the journey.
The final approach to runway 28 at KHDN Yampa Valley Airport from the south east was executed with good quality, with the aircraft established on the approach path at 1 nm and 509 ft agl, heading 297.0°. The threshold height was satisfactory, allowing for a smooth transition to the landing phase. However, the threshold speed was above the target, reaching 92 kt, which may have been due to the aircraft's weight or configuration.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was 86 kt, slightly above the desired rate, resulting in a touchdown rate of -127 fpm. The touchdown point was 151 m beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight over-run. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned, deviating 4.8 m from the centreline. Despite these minor deviations, the local weather conditions, with a temperature of 27 °C and a gentle wind of 6 kt at 18°, contributed to a relatively smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,088 m, accounting for 36% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control and stabilize the aircraft during the critical phase of the landing. Overall, the landing was scored 95.4%, reflecting the minor deviations from the ideal touchdown and rollout characteristics.
