Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 340 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 340 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 87 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The DR400 aircraft successfully landed at LIVE Campo di Volo Valsusa, achieving a score of 79.8%. The final approach was conducted from the east, heading 273.0° at 1 nautical mile and 672 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft landed on runway 27, which has a length of 340 meters.
The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 60 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been able to make adjustments to reduce the speed before touchdown. The touchdown distance was good at 84 meters, which is a reasonable distance for a landing on a runway of this length.
However, the touchdown speed was a little fast at 54 knots. This may have been due to the pilot's decision to touch down slightly above the optimal speed. The touchdown rate was smooth at -111 feet per minute (fpm), which is a good indication of a controlled descent.
One area for improvement was the runway touchdown position, which was misaligned by 13.3 meters from the centreline. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's approach or a miscalculation of the aircraft's position. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C and a headwind of 4 knots at 274°.
The total landing distance was 195 meters, which is 57% of the runway length. This is a reasonable distance, considering the aircraft's size and the runway length. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.2 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to the same factors that contributed to the initial touchdown position deviation.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there are areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown speed and alignment. With some adjustments to the pilot's technique and approach, the score could be improved.
