Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 992 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 992 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 574 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Chicago Midway International Airport, taking approximately 8 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 31C, with a takeoff distance of 391 meters, which accounted for 24% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 94 knots.
As the flight progressed, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of -2°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 300°. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile east of Summit, Illinois, and ascended from an altitude of 1,635 feet above sea level to 19,858 feet above sea level, an increase of 18,224 feet, in 12 minutes and covering a distance of 35 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 21 miles northeast of Winnetka, Illinois, and lasted for 43 minutes, covering a distance of 184 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent overhead Grayling Army Air Field in Michigan, descending from 19,546 feet above sea level to 3,224 feet above sea level, a decrease of 16,322 feet, in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 32 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise resumed 8 miles east of Walloon Lake, Michigan, and lasted for 8 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 28 at Harbor Springs Airport was made from the east, with a heading of 276.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,403 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 992 meters, and the threshold height was well above the target. The threshold speed was good at 96 knots, and the touchdown point was very long, using more than 50% of the available runway. The touchdown speed was 68 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was perfect at -46 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of -10°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 6°. The crosswind component was 9 knots, while the headwind component was 0 knots. The total landing distance was 731 meters, which accounted for 74% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The total flight distance was 269 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 90 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 304 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet has successfully landed at KMGN Harbor Springs Airport, achieving an impressive score of 88.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 276.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,403 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 28, which has a length of 992 meters.
Upon landing, the threshold height was found to be well above the target, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient clearance to safely touch down. The threshold speed was also good, reaching 96 knots, which is an optimal speed for landing. However, the touchdown point was quite far down the runway, using more than 50% of the available runway. This may be attributed to the aircraft's speed and altitude at the time of touchdown, which was 68 knots and 1,403 feet agl, respectively.
The touchdown rate was perfect, with a rate of -46 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was also very good, suggesting that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were quite challenging, with a temperature of -10°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 6°. The crosswind component was 9 knots, while the headwind component was negligible.
The total landing distance was 731 meters, which is 74% of the available runway length. This is a relatively long landing distance, but it is not uncommon for aircraft to use a significant portion of the runway during landing. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase. Overall, the Vision Jet's landing at KMGN Harbor Springs Airport was a successful one, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach and landing phases.
