See Departure Roll
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
At the 500 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,579 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,579 m of the 2,440 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 194 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 7 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 15L at KIAH George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport, with a takeoff distance of 335 meters, which was 9% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 75 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 2 knots at 120 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it began its enroute climb 1 mile south of KIAH George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport. The climb was from 1,009 feet above sea level to 38,637 feet above sea level, an increase of 37,628 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 136 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 13 miles southwest of Mansfield, Louisiana, and lasted for 42 minutes, covering a distance of 305 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent 2 miles east of Somerville, Tennessee, descending from 38,981 feet above sea level to 6,022 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,958 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 119 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 3 miles southwest of the TN32 Loudon Justice Center Heliport in Loudon, Tennessee, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another enroute descent 4 miles northeast of the TN32 Loudon Justice Center Heliport, descending from 5,607 feet above sea level to 5,012 feet above sea level, a decrease of 595 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started overhead Nashville, Tennessee, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final descent 2 miles northeast of Hendersonville, Tennessee, descending from 5,004 feet above sea level to 1,808 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,195 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 20L at KBNA Nashville International Airport was from the north, heading 198.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,204 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed on runway 20L at KBNA Nashville International Airport, with a runway length of 2,440 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 130 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 191 meters, and the touchdown speed was 126 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -202 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 14.5 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 20.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 210 degrees.
The total flight distance was 603 nautical miles, taking 104 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,362 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at KBNA Nashville International Airport on runway 20L, achieving a score of 90.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 198.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,204 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on a runway with a length of 2,440 meters, and the threshold height was reported as good.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly below the target threshold speed of 130 knots, registering at 126 knots. The touchdown distance was within acceptable limits at 191 meters, and the touchdown speed was also good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -202 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a slightly steeper descent than ideal.
The landing was conducted in local weather conditions of 30°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots from 210°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 4 knots. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing.
Despite the good overall performance, there were some areas for improvement. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 14.5 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 20.2 meters from the centerline. These misalignments may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error.
Overall, the Airbus A320 demonstrated a good landing performance, with a score of 90.9%. However, the misalignments during touchdown and rollout highlight the need for further refinement in the aircraft's handling and control.
