Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 953 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 953 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 185 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight was carried out using a GA-8 Airvan Commuter aircraft, identified as N13AV. The departure roll from runway 29 at EGZU Andreas Airfield began without any issues, utilizing only 48% of the available runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 79 knots, which is a relatively high takeoff speed.
During the initial stages of the flight, the pilot encountered a relatively calm local weather condition with a temperature of 16°C. The wind speed at the time of departure was 3 knots, with a direction of 266°. This resulted in a slight headwind component, which assisted the aircraft during takeoff.
As the pilot began the right-hand traffic pattern, the aircraft successfully entered the pattern within a short distance of less than 1 nautical mile, taking only 17 seconds to navigate. The subsequent right-hand pattern crosswind leg was completed with ease, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile in 5 seconds.
As the aircraft proceeded with the flying pattern, it completed a downwind turn, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile at an angle of 57.9° to the runway. The subsequent downwind leg covered a significant portion of 1 nautical mile within 48 seconds.
Following the downwind turn, the pattern base leg was flown, covering approximately 1 nautical mile and involving an angle of turn of 49.8° to the runway. The pilot then successfully completed the base leg, covering a short distance of less than 1 nautical mile within 20 seconds.
Subsequently, the aircraft initiated the final turn, which was completed within a distance of less than 1 nautical mile and a time of 29 seconds.
Upon descending to an altitude of 225 feet AGL and heading 290.0°, the pilot successfully executed a final approach onto runway 29 at EGZU Andreas Airfield. The landing on the runway with a length of 953 meters was accomplished with precision, demonstrating good threshold height and a threshold speed of 68 knots.
The touchdown distance was remarkably short, measuring 184 meters, and the pilot successfully maintained a smooth touchdown speed of 55 knots and a touch-down rate of -111 fpm. Furthermore, the runway touchdown alignment was spot on, reflecting the pilot's proficiency in landing procedures.
The landing was further enhanced by the favorable local weather conditions, which had changed to a temperature of 20°C and a wind speed of 3 knots, this time coming from 224°. This resulted in a slight crosswind component and a minor headwind component.
Ultimately, the pilot successfully brought the aircraft to a complete stop within a total landing distance of 482 meters, accounting for just 51% of the available runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, showcasing the precision demonstrated by the pilot.
In conclusion, the flight was conducted with remarkable precision and control, using the GA-8 Airvan Commuter aircraft, N13AV, to achieve a total flight distance of 5 nautical miles, which was completed within 4 minutes. Moreover, the aircraft only required 0 kilogram of fuel throughout the entire journey.
The GA-8 Airvan Commuter, N13AV, has successfully landed at EGZU Andreas Airfield with a score of 98.1%. The aircraft was approaching the runway 29 from the east at a heading of 290.0° at 0nm and 225ft above ground level (agl). The final approach to a runway of 953 meters in length was executed smoothly, with the aircraft meeting the required threshold height.
Upon touching down, the aircraft's threshold speed was recorded as 68 knots, which is well within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 184 meters was also within the expected parameters, indicating that the pilot expertly controlled the aircraft's descent into the runway. The touchdown speed at 55 knots was further confirmation of the pilot's skill, as the aircraft was able to maintain a stable speed during the landing.
The aircraft's touchdown rate was particularly noticeable during the landing, with a smooth rate of -111 feet per minute. This suggests that the pilot was able to carefully control the aircraft's rate of descent, ensuring a smooth and stable touchdown. Furthermore, the runway touchdown alignment was deemed to be very good, which is a testament to the pilot's precise control and navigation during the final stages of the approach.
The local weather conditions during the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 20°C and winds of 3 knots at 224°. The crosswind of 2 knots and headwind of 1 knot also contributed to a stable and controlled approach. Importantly, the total landing distance of 482 meters was only 51% of the runway's length, indicating that the aircraft's groundspeed and deceleration were well-managed.
Finally, the runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the critical post-landing phase. Overall, this landing was a commendable performance by the pilot, showcasing their expertise and skill in executing a smooth and controlled landing.
