MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,529 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 239 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 08R at London Gatwick Airport (EGKK), with a takeoff distance of 1,574 meters, which accounted for 63% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 155 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 10°C temperature and a wind speed of 1 knot at 270°. The crosswind was negligible, while the tailwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started 1 mile south of Horley, Surrey, England, where the aircraft climbed from 1,224 feet above sea level to 2,847 feet, an increase of 1,623 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 1 mile northeast of Copthorne, West Sussex, England, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then started another enroute climb 1 mile south of Reigate, Surrey, England, where it climbed from 3,448 feet to 35,328 feet, an increase of 31,880 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 120 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 4 miles south of EGJA Alderney Airport Saint Anne, Guernsey, and lasted for 29 minutes, covering 753 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent overhead Pedrera, Andalusia, Spain, where it descended from 35,352 feet to 446 feet, a decrease of 34,906 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 68 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 09 at LXGB Gibraltar Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 96.0° at 1 nautical mile and 401 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 239 meters, which was good, and a touchdown speed of 134 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -293 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 16°C temperature and a wind speed of 12 knots at 100°. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 12 knots. The total landing distance was 921 meters, which accounted for 60% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, a process that took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 955 nautical miles, took 70 minutes, and used 6,357 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Gibraltar Airport, achieving a high score of 98.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 96.0° at 1 nautical mile and 401 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 09, which has a length of 1,529 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 139 knots was also satisfactory, demonstrating that the pilot had maintained control and was on track for a smooth landing. The touchdown distance of 239 meters was within acceptable limits, further indicating a well-executed landing.
However, the touchdown speed of 134 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate of -293 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, showing that the pilot had maintained control and was aligned with the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 12 knots at 100°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots, which helped to reduce the landing distance.
The total landing distance of 921 meters was 60% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft had landed safely and within the acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, demonstrating that the pilot had maintained control and was able to bring the aircraft to a stop safely.
Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating a high level of proficiency in landing at Gibraltar Airport.
