MY FS FLIGHTS

Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,794 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 590 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 09 at EGGD Bristol Airport, where the Airbus A320 took off after covering a takeoff distance of 790 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 159 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 60 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it started its enroute climb overhead Winford in North Somerset, England. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,544 feet above sea level to 26,390 feet above sea level, an increase of 24,846 feet in just 11 minutes, covering a distance of 51 nautical miles. Following this, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 5 miles west of Kington in Herefordshire, England, and lasted for 14 minutes, covering a distance of 92 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 7 miles southwest of Blackpool in England, where the aircraft descended from an altitude of 26,391 feet above sea level to 2,391 feet above sea level, a decrease of 24,000 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 126 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, which started 2 miles north of Broughshane in Northern Ireland and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 17 at EGAA Belfast International Airport began from the north, heading 162.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,263 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on runway 17, which had a length of 1,794 meters. The threshold height at 59 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 142 knots.
The touchdown point was 170 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 133 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -227 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots from a direction of 140 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 12 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,304 meters, which accounted for 73% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The total flight distance was 289 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 61 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 2,423 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at EGAA Belfast International Airport, with a final approach from the north at a heading of 162.0°. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,263 feet above ground level (agl) and 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was executed on runway 17, which has a length of 1,794 meters.
The threshold height at 59 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating a minor deviation in the aircraft's descent. The threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 142 knots, which may have contributed to the subsequent touchdown speed. The touchdown point was 170 meters beyond the touchdown zone, suggesting that the aircraft touched down slightly further down the runway than intended.
The touchdown speed of 133 knots was a little fast, which may have been a result of the slightly above-target threshold speed. However, the touchdown rate of -227 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating a relatively smooth touchdown. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.1 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a minor deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C and a wind speed of 13 knots at 140°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slightly above-target threshold speed and touchdown speed.
The total landing distance was 1,304 meters, which is 73% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and aligned path during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and coming to a stop within a reasonable distance. However, there were some minor deviations in the aircraft's performance, including a slightly above-target threshold speed and touchdown speed, as well as a slightly misaligned runway touchdown position.
