Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,094 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 400 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from KGEG Spokane International Airport, the Boeing 737-900 began its taxiing process from the parking area to the runway, taking 14 minutes to cover a distance of 3 nautical miles. Upon reaching runway 21, the aircraft initiated its departure roll, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 167 knots. The takeoff distance of 1,981 meters accounted for 59% of the runway length, with a local temperature of 18°C and wind conditions of 15 knots at 199°.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it transitioned into an enroute climb, ascending from 3,436 feet above sea level to 37,217 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 134 nautical miles. The climb rate was notable, with an increase of 33,781 feet in a relatively short period. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, maintaining an altitude of 37,217 feet for 96 minutes as it covered 699 nautical miles. The cruise phase was followed by an enroute descent, which began 1 mile south east of Boyle Heights, California, and lasted 22 minutes, with a descent of 36,774 feet and a distance of 116 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27 at KSAN San Diego International Airport was initiated from the east, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 286.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,469 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 402 meters, accounting for 66% of the runway length. The touchdown speed of 138 knots was slightly above the recommended threshold speed, but the touchdown rate of -90 feet per minute was excellent. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 5 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 959 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 155 minutes and a fuel consumption of 6,677 kilograms.
The Boeing 737-900 touched down on runway 27 at KSAN San Diego International Airport, demonstrating a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 144 kt, well within the acceptable range. The aircraft's descent was controlled, resulting in a touchdown distance of 402 meters, which was within the expected parameters. However, the touchdown speed of 138 kt was slightly above the ideal, indicating a slight loss of control during the final stages of the approach.
The aircraft's touchdown rate was an impressive -90 fpm, showcasing excellent control and precision. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned, deviating by 3.3 meters from the centreline. This minor deviation did not significantly impact the overall performance of the landing. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 27 °C and a gentle headwind of 5 kt, contributed to a relatively smooth and stable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,374 meters, accounting for 66% of the runway length, was within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control and stability during the critical phases of the landing. Overall, the landing performance was impressive, with a score of 98.2%, reflecting the high level of skill and precision displayed by the pilot.
