Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,801 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 512 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320 departed from runway 23L at EDDL Düsseldorf Airport, accelerating over a takeoff distance of 970 m which represented 36 % of the runway. Liftoff was achieved at 142 kt. Ambient conditions were 18 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a cross-wind component of 1 kt and a head-wind component of 2 kt.
Climb commenced while the aircraft was overhead the departure airport, rising from 1,055 ft asl to 5,898 ft asl - a gain of 4,843 ft - in three minutes and covering 11 nm.
Descent began when the flight passed overhead Dormagen, descending from 5,791 ft asl to 1,521 ft asl - a loss of 4,270 ft - in four minutes while traversing 13 nm.
The final approach to runway 13L at EDDK Cologne Bonn Airport was executed from the north-west on a heading of 137.0° at a distance of four nautical miles and an altitude of 1,262 ft agl.
Landing was made on runway 13L, whose total length is 3,807 m. The threshold height of 60 ft agl was above the target, while the threshold speed of 123 kt was within expectations. Touchdown occurred 98 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 116 kt and a vertical rate of minus 213 fpm; the touchdown point was offset 4.1 m from the centreline. Local weather at the time was 20 °C with a wind of 3 kt from 227°, a cross-wind of 3 kt and no head-wind. The aircraft required a landing distance of 1,328 m, representing 35 % of the runway.
Rollout proceeded with very good alignment along the runway centreline.
In total the flight covered 30 nm, required ten minutes of elapsed time and consumed 7 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A320 entered final approach to runway 13L at EDDK Cologne Bonn Airport from the north-west on a heading of 137.0° at 4 nm and 1,262 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits. Local weather was 20 °C with wind 3 kt from 227°, a 3 kt crosswind and no headwind.
At threshold the aircraft was 60 ft agl, which was above the target height, and the threshold speed was recorded as good at 123 kt. The flare proceeded from this condition.
Touchdown occurred 98 m beyond the touchdown zone with a good speed of 116 kt. The vertical rate was fair at minus 213 fpm and the touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 4.1 m from the centreline. Total landing distance was 1,328 m, representing 35 % of the runway length.
Runway rollout alignment was very good, allowing the aircraft to decelerate safely along the centreline.
The overall score of 94.6 % reflects a strong performance; focus on achieving the target threshold height and tightening centreline alignment at touchdown to eliminate the small deviations observed.
