Flight Score
Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,056 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,056 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 162 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 19 at U60 Big Creek Airport. The aircraft, an XCub, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 47 knots. The takeoff distance was 203 meters, which accounted for 19% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 198 degrees. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 12 knots.
Following takeoff, the aircraft entered a brief enroute level cruise, lasting less than 1 minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile, as it flew overhead U60 Big Creek Airport. This was followed by an enroute climb, during which the aircraft ascended from 6,162 feet above sea level to 8,030 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,867 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 3 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, this time lasting 4 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles, as it flew 3 miles south of U60 Big Creek Airport. Subsequently, the aircraft began its enroute descent, which started 5 miles northeast of 3U2 Johnson Creek Airport. The descent took 6 minutes and covered 5 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 8,140 feet above sea level to 4,982 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,158 feet.
The final approach to runway 17 at 3U2 Johnson Creek Airport was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 192.0 degrees at an altitude of 51 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 52 knots. The touchdown distance was 159 meters, which was 33% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was a little fast, but the touchdown rate was smooth at -134 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at takeoff, with a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 189 degrees. The crosswind component was negligible, at 0 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots. The total landing distance was 350 meters, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The total flight distance was 15 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 18 minutes. The aircraft used 5 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The XCub aircraft successfully landed at 3U2 Johnson Creek Airport, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its landing technique. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 192.0° at an altitude of 51 feet above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the runway. This approach was likely a visual approach, given the aircraft's low altitude and proximity to the runway.
Upon touchdown, the XCub exhibited good threshold height, indicating that the pilot maintained a safe altitude above the runway threshold. The threshold speed of 56 knots was also within acceptable limits, suggesting that the pilot had a good sense of the aircraft's airspeed and was able to control it effectively. The touchdown distance of 159 meters was also good, indicating that the pilot was able to slow the aircraft down smoothly and maintain control.
However, the touchdown speed of 52 knots was a little fast, which may indicate that the pilot could have applied a bit more braking or reverse thrust to slow the aircraft down more quickly. Nevertheless, the touchdown rate of -134 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating that the pilot was able to absorb the impact of touchdown and maintain control of the aircraft.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to align the aircraft with the runway centerline and maintain control throughout the landing. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and a headwind of 12 knots at 189°. The crosswind was negligible, which made the landing even easier.
The total landing distance of 350 meters was 33% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This suggests that the pilot was able to slow the aircraft down quickly and maintain control throughout the landing. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft and align it with the runway centerline even after touchdown.
Overall, the XCub aircraft's landing at 3U2 Johnson Creek Airport was a success, with the pilot demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its landing technique. The aircraft's performance was good, and the pilot was able to maintain control throughout the landing.
