Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,893 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 374 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an ATR 72, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Mariehamn Airport (EFMA). This process took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 21, and the takeoff distance was 1,089 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway's length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 115 knots.
During takeoff, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 3°C and a wind speed of 17 knots from a direction of 330°. This resulted in a crosswind of 14 knots and a tailwind of 10 knots. The enroute climb began approximately 1 mile west of Mariehamn, where the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,012 feet above sea level to 1,673 feet, an increase of 661 feet, in just 1 minute and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 2 miles southwest of Mariehamn and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The final approach to runway 03 at EFMA Mariehamn Airport was initiated from the south, with the aircraft heading at an angle of 26.0° and at an altitude of 849 feet above ground level, 2 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 03 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 109 knots, which was slightly faster than the recommended threshold speed of 112 knots. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -107 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions during landing were characterized by a temperature of 2°C and a wind speed of 16 knots from a direction of 330°, resulting in a crosswind of 13 knots and a headwind of 10 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,368 meters, which accounted for 72% of the runway's length. Although the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.7 meters from the centerline, the overall landing performance was satisfactory. The total flight distance was 8 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 9 minutes, during which the aircraft used 57 kilograms of fuel.
The ATR 72 aircraft successfully landed at EFMA Mariehamn Airport, achieving a high score of 97.8%. The final approach to runway 03 was conducted from the south, with a heading of 26.0° at 2 nautical miles and 849 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the approach, ultimately landing safely on the runway.
The landing was executed with a good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing. The threshold speed of 112 knots was also within the acceptable range, suggesting that the pilot had a good understanding of the aircraft's performance and was able to manage the speed effectively. The touchdown distance of 372 meters was also good, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control to bring the aircraft to a stop within a reasonable distance.
However, the touchdown speed of 109 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have been due to a variety of factors such as wind conditions or pilot judgment. Despite this, the touchdown rate was smooth at -107 feet per minute (fpm), indicating that the pilot was able to manage the descent effectively and avoid any hard landings.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft aligning itself with the centerline of the runway. This is a critical aspect of landing, as it ensures that the aircraft is properly positioned for takeoff or taxiing. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 2°C and winds of 16 knots at 330°, with a crosswind of 13 knots and a headwind of 10 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,368 meters was 72% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the wind conditions. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.7 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a variety of factors such as wind or pilot error. Despite this, the landing was still considered successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and precision throughout the approach and landing.
